Tomatoes In My Yard

Growing tomatoes is

A worth while task.

I grow them in containers

And in the sun, they bask.

Some plants grow small tomatoes

And some are shaped like pears.

Others are like baseballs,

More than the stems can bear.

I smell the strong aroma

That tomato plants let loose.

It’s fun to watch the fruit grow

When the plants produce.

I hold the ripe tomatoes

And study their skins.

Each one is a miracle,

A gift that God sends.

There is nothing like a garden

To show God’s loving care.

I often come in solitude

To speak to God in prayer.

When I was just a girl of eight,

I stretched my body on the ground,

And on my back I saw a world

Of beauty and heard Nature’s sounds.

I felt my soul fly out of me

Veronique-coutie. Found on Pinterest 3-11-16.

And land on top a fluffy cloud.

I embraced the universe

And heard an angel laugh out loud.

All around me beauty breathed

And blew sweet hope inside my breast.

It wrapped me in serenity

And gave me a much-needed rest.

The smell of sweet young tender leaves

Moved gently through the tall oak trees.

The scent of honeysuckle blooms

Drifted across the fragrant breeze.

I saw one hundred flowers dance

And lift their faces to the sun.

They smiled and bowed their heads to pray

And gave thanks to “the Holy One.”

There grew in me such ecstasy.

It blew the storms of life aside.

It gave me respite for a day

And brought back hope that died.

The Sweet Gifts Of Gratitude

Praise God for the morning,

Bright with the rising sun;

And all the trees around me,

Waiting for Spring to come.

Praise God for my simple house

That serves as a shelter,

To protect me from life’s storms

And acts as a filter.

Praise God for my loyal friends,

Who stay and support me;

They fill my life with joy,

And allow me to be free.

Praise God for the goodness,

I find in another’s heart,

When I reach out in friendship

After being pulled apart.

Praise God for the evening,

When sweet darkness falls;

Even though the night comes,

There is light from the stars.

Miracles Occur More Often Than You Know.

Miracles occur., poetry by Yu/stan/kema, spirituality, We don't always recognize them.

A miracle happened today

When someone went out of his way,

To sit with me for a while,

And got me to talk with a smile.

A miracle happened last night

After a terrible fight.

I was able to clearly see,

Only I could set myself free.

A miracle happened this year,

After losing all I held dear.

I was able to find

I could know peace of mind.

A miracle happened last week,

When everything seemed bleak.

I was spared from near death,

With a touch of God’s breath.

Miracles come and they go.

They can come in the mist of snow.

They happen more often than you think.

Sometimes faster than a wink.

If I say, “Move these mountains,

Move these mountains in my way.”

Would Jesus move them for me,

And bring me rest today?

If I said, “Be my Saviour,

Be my Saviour and my King.”

Would Jesus come to save me,

Tuck me beneath His wing?

If I said, “Remove my sins, Lord.

Make me white as falling  snow.”

Would He walk me to the river,

Wash me clean like long ago?

If I said, “Make me humble.

Take away my foolish pride.”

Would He use me as a vessel,

And teach my heart to open wide?

If I said, “I come before You,

Like a child that’s innocent.”

Would He wipe away these tears, love,

And receive me penitent?

For I know I need the Lord,

Need His love and His trust.

“Please come and take me, Jesus,

Before it all turns to dust.”

A Symphony of Trees., Love of trees., Photos taken by Jim Tanselle., poetry by Yu/stan/kema, spirituality

Trees stand tall before me,

Picture of trees taken by Jim Tanselle on July 11, 2016. .Illinois.

Varied in colors of  green and brown.

Green leaves of a rich, warm green,

And trees with leaves of chartreuse,

Become happy trees, joyful trees that

Swing in the sweet, summer breeze.

Tree tops sway in rhythm

To their own individualized songs.

Some trees dance in an easy-going way.

Others dance boisterously as with hardy laughter.

And then there are trees that sway to a lullaby.

A Norway Maple shelters me as I read.

Norway Maple tree taken by Jim Tanselle on July 11, 2016. Illinois.

Its tree bark is a beautiful brown.

The branches are made for swinging.

Its large leaves shake in the wind.

The Maple tree speaks to me of joy.

And wraps its branches around my heart.

There is nothing like a tree

To remind me that God is nigh.

That I am one with the universe,

That I am more spirit than body.

That my skin and bones hold me back

From where I yearn to go and stay.

I want to have my pair of wings and

Dive down canyons at the speed of light;

Peel forth laughter that would echo down

All the various corridors of time and  send

Forth vibrations of goodness and love.

Yet,  I must accept the limitations I am given,

That as a mortal man, my body remains

Chained to the earth, as my mind travels

To the far reaches of the brightest stars,

So my soul can sit at the feet of Jesus.

You can call me Sorrow.

I’ve existed through the years.

You think life is better if

Found on Pinterest on 2-7-16.

Found on Pinterest on 2-7-16.

No one shed their tears.

Other’s tell the story that

We need happiness;

Sorrow causes trouble;

And Joy is like a kiss

Which is savored fully,

And is sorely missed.

When death comes calling,

And someone’s laid to rest,

No one feels like laughing,

And crying tears is best.

When one’s heart is breaking,

And life seems upside down.

Jokes are inappropriate.

Sorrow can be found.

When kids are taken,

There is Sorrow all around.

Life is full of opposites:

The good and the bad.

There is also happy and

Of course, there is sad.

Love is part of living.

There is also hate,

Which makes it most difficult

For others to relate.

Some have a selfish nature,

Yet, giving is innate..

From the time of Creation,

There was Adam and Eve.

They turned away from God.

 He taught them how to grieve.

Christ came to save us

By dying  on a cross,

To give us salvation

So we wouldn’t be a loss.

With both Joy and Sorrow,

Life is better, I believe.

WE ARE ALL CHILDREN

Searching for answers;

Hiding underneath our skin;

Dreaming of climbing mountains,

To see where we have been;

Asking others questions when

The answers are within;

Reaching for each other

With a child-like love;

Wanting to be  spirit,

And fly like doves.

We are all children

Wanting so much more,

From those around us

Who often ignore

The gifts we are giving

From the heart’s store.

Misunderstandings can

Hurt us to the quick

When they fail to see

What really makes us tick.

We are all children

Searching for a dream;

Trying to be grown-ups,

And wanting to scream:

“Stop all the lies.

Life’s not what it seems.

Where is the laughter?

Where is the fun?

Where’s my respect,

When it’s all said and done?”

We are all children

Who want to be,

Our authentic selves,

Not what you see.

What makes it so hard

To allow “US”  to be “ME?”

Within us all lies

The needs of our youth.

We’d be better off

In accepting  this truth.

The wind blows hither and yon,

Bringing with it a fragrant bouquet

Of scents that stimulate my senses.

I am left breathless by the smells

That remind me of yester years.

Memories clutch at my heart

With cruel hands, leaving an imprint

On my unquiet mind and weary soul.

The memories come with both

Positive and negative thoughts;

A kaleidoscope of images and emotions,

That get in the way of living my life

Mindfully, moment to moment.

There must be a way to organize it all,

So that each stays in its perfect box,

Allowing me space to move and breathe

And find a place of peace.
