The world has changed

since I was a young girl

growing up in America.

Rules and regulations meant

we expected others to act

and talk with civility.

There were lines

no one dared to cross,

because we knew

those rules were the glue

that held us fast to one another

with a common purpose.

It took hard-earned respect

from each of us

to build a community

that believed in

the very best

of our humanity.

My heart yearns for the years

that seem lost forever:

A world where facts

were based on truth,

and the rule of law

 was made for all.

Life was simple then.

We watched the seasons

come and go,

and we believed

that good would

triumph over evil.

I am not ready

to accept a world

filled with such

chaos and hate,

where people refuse

to relate with one another.

Let us work together

To heal this broken world,

so once again we can

find serenity,

and peace within

Our Country.

A Child Learns A Lesson From A Tree.

A small child wandered through the forest

Looking for hope, hungry for a bit of faith

That something existed bigger than her.

She needed to find a reason for being.

Found on Pinterest on 4-29-17. bonitavista.tumblr.com. Mayford Woods, CrewKerne, Somerset.

She leaned against a giant tree

And put her arms around its trunk.

She closed her eyes and tried to rest.

After an hour had passed, she noticed

The bark of the tree was rough.

Insects scurried back and forth

In between the ridges in the bark.

The tree provided shelter and food

For the insects passing by.

She breathed in the cool air

And embraced the solitude that

Surrounded her in the forest glade.

A bird flew above her head

And perched on the tree’s branches.

Found on Facebook Timeline on 8-8-16. Rocky Mountain Angel.

Nearby, came the chirps from a nest

Hidden in a canopy of leaves and twigs.

Again, this tree was providing shelter

For many of the creatures in the forest.

The child could feel the energy coming

From the heart and soul of the tree.

She could feel its unique vibrations

Enter her body and expand her soul,

Until she too felt as one with the tree.

“I feel renewed,” she cried.

Found on Pinterest on 4-30-17. Saved from an article on facilisimo.com.

“This energy is bigger than me.

I too, am made by God’s hand

To provide support for those

In need of renewal and hope.”

“All of us are  part of the whole,”

She said.

Christianity, God's will. master plan, purpose, service to my fellow-man, the difference

“ It is God Himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ages ago He planned that we should spend these lives in helping others.”   Ephesians 2:10. The Bible.

THE DIFFERENCE

There was a time when I could stand

And watch with listless eyes

Quotes to live by.

A man go hungry in the cold

And never hear his cries.

A time when I could turn away

A man I never knew

And righteously declare to all,

” I don’t know what to do.”

But now I am a different man

For Christ has set me free.

He tells me I must walk the road

To blood-stained Calvary.

I run to meet the hungry man

And give him bread to eat.

I make him sit before my fire.

I gently wash his feet.

God brings to me a man whose needs

Are more than I can fill.

I find that I must pray for strength

To do God’s gracious will.

For I am clay within God’s hands.

Part of His master plan.

My purpose here on earth is

Just to serve my fellow-man.

REFLECTIONS ON LETTING GO.

Letting Go.

I find it amazing that the older I get the more I learn from books and those I come in contact with. When I watch others struggle and deal with events beyond what they can bear, and see them rise to new heights of courage, I am humbled and it gives me new hope in the human race. This usually happens when those who struggle learn to let go of the nonessential things in life. Perhaps because life becomes refined to its basic elements when the fires of hardship burn. What is left is: Friendship, Family, God, Nature, and Purpose. Jobs come and go. Money ebbs and flows, and sometimes disappears. Power and fame are transitory.

Love endures. Friends come and go, but the memories we have of them stay. even after they are dead or move away. We can carry their footprints in our hearts and souls, even when they are no longer with us. Family endures: sometimes with sadness, or anger, and often with joy. God also remains whether we want Him to or not. When we are angry with Him, or feel abandoned by Him, we still acknowledge He is there. When we are given to, we thank Him.

Nature exists. Nature reminds us of our place in the world, in the universe. Nature comforts us, teaches us, and sometimes, Nature hurt’s us.

Purpose drives us to reach heights beyond what we are capable of climbing. What will always exist in us is: a need to love and to be loved; a need to find God and be more like Him; a need to serve those who touch our lives, even for a moment in time; a need to grow in knowledge and wisdom.; a need to serve; a need to fulfill our purpose in this world; and a need to enjoy nature and become one with Her.
