Wherever you go

My love will follow,

To give you great strength

To overcome sorrow.

You can climb a mountain

And swim in an ocean,

Endure the wide swings

Of  perpetual motion.

Still, you will find

And come to know:

“You are so loved,

Wherever you go.”

For a Mother’s love,

And the heart of a friend,

Will stay with you

To the very end.

I go to my garden refuge

Found on Pinterest on 5-15-17. Coral Honeysuckle. Saved from Indulgy.com

When I need a healing salve

To cover the wounds inside me

From old losses that I have.

I smell the sweet honeysuckle

That grows on the back yard fence,

And the flowers that bloom in summer

Keep me in a state of suspense.

Many colors of Iris stand tall

In the rays of the morning sun.

The birds wake up to sing a tune

And stop when the day is done.

My soul needs its’ quota of beauty

To thrive in a world of despair.

It brings me close to the Almighty

Whose gifts can be seen everywhere.

God knew I would need reminding

That He is present every day,

So He sent gifts of beauty-

Lovely flowers to grace my way.

Mother’s Day is a special day in which we seek to thank those people in our lives who have nurtured us, accepted us, and protected us in ways others have not. They  hold us close when our hearts are breaking. They give us faith in ourselves and tell us that we are capable of amazing things. They are people who guide us through the difficulties of life and hold us up when our legs can no longer carry us. They are the ones who tell us things we don’t want to face and they encourage us to grow. They accept us with our weaknesses, our mistakes, and sometimes our unfairness towards them for they know we are capable of learning, growing and being a blessing in this world.

Sometimes, it is the Mother who gave birth to us, or a grandmother who  steps  in to help. Often, it is a teacher, a pastor, a mentor, a neighbor, or an older friend. It may be other people who enter our lives and give us nurturing, guidance, and acceptance for a time. We find it is important to honor the women in our lives and appreciate what they do for us. God sends these special women into our lives as a gift, a rare gift of love.

overhead

as I headed out the door

into the gardens

out front.

It had been

a long time

since I spent hours

talking to the flowers,

precious moments spent

in visualizing each

tiny stem that curved

up from young, green leaves.

I see a rose-bud opening

up in the sunlight.

It’s tiny head nods

in the early summer breeze.

It’s deep pink color

stands out from all the rest.

I lean down to whisper

to the lovely rose,

“Thank you for giving

your life to me.

You give me joy.”

I kneel and spade gently

around the rose-bush.

I inhale its fragrance,

and take time to water

its roots growing

deep in the warm soil.

I am aware of the blue sky,

the warmth of the sun’s rays,

and a sea of flowers,

waving their heads at me.

I feel the oneness that comes

in the presence of something

greater than myself.

I whisper to the wind,

“All is well, all is well

with my soul.” 1

I’m going to feed you like a Mothering bird.

I’ll give you messages I’ve been taught,

Just so you’ll remember, you aren’t forgot.

I know it’s hard when you’re feeling scared.

Don’t fret little ones, we will be prepared.

We will keep you safe and not run away.

We are committed and we will stay.

So, close your eyes and dream of good things.

You’ll be surprised what commitment can bring.

Lay down your head, sweet baby.

Your night-time book has been read.

Mother has tucked you in for the night,

My little sleepy head.

Peace falls on your face

As mother touches your hair.

Your lips curve into a smile,

As she throws you a kiss in the air.

She can smell the talcum powder

That covers your body tonight.

Your hair smells of shampoo.

She wants to hold you tight.

But she lets you sleep safely,

For she knows you need to rest.

She stands at the door to watch you.

Dear baby, you are the best.

She hopes the world treats you kindly,

And you meet the love of your life.

She wants you to find your purpose,

And your days to be free of strife.

She’ll teach you how  to work hard,

And  find some time to play;

Treat others with God’s kindness,

And take a moment to pray.

For a Mother cares for her child,

And  seeks to always protect.

She gives with all of her heart,

And never shows neglect.

So rest tonight, sweet baby,

And wake with the rising sun,

Open your eyes to beauty,

For the day has just begun.
