I step into a room filled with silence.
A glowing rock illuminates the space
Between two chairs facing each other.
A table lamp adds light in the place.

I sit and wait, holding my breath,
For someone to quietly enter,
Sit peacefully across from me,
And start this new adventure.

She greets me with a gentle smile
And sits in the opposite chair.
She leans forward and invites me
To relax and become aware:

Aware of my current surroundings
And attuned to all of my senses,
Conscious of my present thoughts,
And my emotional defenses.

We explore and discuss what is needed
To bring me back to my Self,
And what skills I need to learn
To improve my emotional health.

We agree to work together
Using honesty and respect
To regulate my emotions
And deal with feelings of neglect.

This room is no longer silent.
It's a refuge for me,
A place for my soul to grow,
And my spirit to fly free.

When I am filled with dark despair,

I notice geese fly through the air.

When teardrops fall from my eyes,

I see the sunshine in blue skies.

When it seems all hope is gone,

Daylight comes with a new dawn.

When it seems I can’t let go,

I’ve learned from nature to say “no”.

When the world seems at an end,

I’ve learned, on me, I can depend.

The power of the human mind

Can leave the darkness far behind.

Appreciating God's gifts., Focusing, mindfulness, nature, Pinterest photo-5-21-16. Dan Ashbach/Dan330, Poetry by Yu/ stan/kema., Uncompahgre Nat. Forest. Colo., using the senses

Have you ever sat and watched

a waterfall awhile

and found each separate water drop

caused your soul to smile?

Have you ever walked in gentle rain

with your face turned toward the sky

and felt the soft hands of the rain

wash tears from your eyes?

Have you held a flower in your hand

and ached with it’s sweet beauty

and gazed into it’s very heart

until you found eternity?

Have you moved through a forest

to sit upon the ground

and allowed your ears to hear

total silence without sound?

Have you hiked along a river

and watched the sunlight play

and dance upon the water

until the end of day?

Have you closed your eyes in nature

in the early morning light,

and focused on the melodies

of birds taking flight?

God shows us that He cares for us

By the gifts He leaves behind.

They bring us faith and hope

and give us peace of mind.

Have you ever been kissed by the sun

and felt the sweat on your skin

as you reached down into the earth

to see new plant life begin?

Have you felt sweet rain on your face

as your eyes looked up into heaven,

and closed them to savor the memory

like you did when you were eleven ?

Have you ever seen honeysuckle vines

filled with flowers and heavenly smells,

touched the soft petals of a rose,

or walked through a field of blue bells?

Have you ever built a camp-fire

at night under a starry sky,

gazed into the heart of the flames,

and felt that God was nigh?

Have you ever cradled a child

close to your heart and knew,

they would be loved forever

and cherished deeply by you?

These are the moments we seek

when we need to replenish the soul.

Such mindful moments enrich our lives,

and help us again become whole.

If I could, I would

chase away the darkness

So it would never

touch you, child.

I’d spend a lifetime

spreading some kindness,

So parts of you

could be reconciled.

Found on 2-3-16. Facebook Timeline. Sojourners Path.

If I could, I would prove

that God really loves you

when the world around you

is breaking apart,

but dealing with hardships

is a part of living.

Ask God to come

and live in your heart.

If I could, I would give

you many good friends

who would fight and

stand by your side,

when others won’t give you

the gift of acceptance,

no matter how hard

you have tried.

I wish I could pave

your way with kindness,

and light a lamp

for you to have hope,

but all I can do

is pray for the best

and teach you the skills

you’ll need to cope.

I’ll bind up your wounds

and wipe away tears

as you become who

you want to be.

I’ll stand beside you

and cheer you on

as you work to fulfill

your destiny.

When I am gone,

I hope you will see,

I did all I knew

how to do,

to help you build

a strong faith in yourself

and find real peace

in you.

A breaking heart., Everything will be OK., Gaining perspective, mindfulness, nature, Nature soothes., Poetry by Yu/stan/kema.

Life is going to be alright.

Everything will be OK.

When your heart is breaking, notice,

That the night brings a new day.

No one knows what will happen,

Or what tomorrow will bring.

All we have is just a moment,

Knowing winter turns to Spring.

We often have high expectations.

We run from truth and we deny

Giving “too much of self” to someone

Will only cause your soul to cry.

Life is hard and it’s not easy.

Everything will be just fine.

Notice the geese as they fly North

Above the branches of the Pine.

Bird sounds, Joy, mindfulness, Moonlight, Nature's gifts can heal, Night, Pinterest photo- Michael Botkins, poetry by Yu/stan/kema, Sorrow and pain

Darkness falls with the coming of the night,

And the moon rises with a soft white light.

Birds twitter putting their young to sleep,

As insects, through the green leaves, creep.

Found on Pinterest on 10-11-16. Michael Botkins. Moonlight Nights. Saved from Kamyab. lr.

The night wind blows softly across my face,

And solitude wraps me in her warm embrace.

Although my heart lies heavy in my chest,

I make the time to take a needed rest.

Even though life holds pain and sorrow,

Nature’s gifts bring joy on the morrow.

All that’s needed is a mindful stance,

And giving Nature’s gifts a chance.

WANTING TO BE MORE THAN WE ARE

Blue is the color of the sky.

I see it with my inner eye.

Golden leaves touch my heart.

Such beauty rips my soul apart.

Tall trees reach their arms to God,

While strong roots grip the sod.

I inhale the color blue,

And pull within the golden hue,

Of all the leaves I can see,

To feel God’s Spirit move in me.

When the road of life gets rocky,

And your soul becomes dead-tired,

And you want to give up searching

For the things you most admired,

Take a deep breath in and hold it,

Let it out to the count of four.

Breathe  in and out until

You find your Self to be more.

Sit down and explore your anger,

Let go, leave the past behind.

Stay here, in this present moment.

To yourself, be incredibly kind.

Be with the emotions inside you.

Tell fear to sit down, be still.

Tell pain there is never an answer

Why things happen to be God’s will.

At first there is only the silence,

The beat of your blood as it flows,

The rising of  your chest and belly,

The sensation of just letting go.

Just rest, be one with your being.

Enjoy the quiet in you.

Soon Self will rise to the  occasion.

You’ll learn things you never knew.

“Do not be afraid.”

I hear these words

In the center of

My fluttering chest.

Panting, I strive

To focus on my breath,

Knowing in this moment,

I can achieve a slowing of

The waves of feelings

That break across

My conflicted mind.

With each breath I take,

I wonder, who it is

That speaks to me within?

Is it you, who teaches me

I can control my breath;

Or is it God who comes,

To remind me that

I do not need to be

Alone again;

Or is it my awareness

Of a growing sense of

Who I am now,

This moment,

A  bedrock of strength

That strives within to do,

What I cannot do alone?

Perhaps for now,

It is enough to know,

This growing sense of

A new resilient Self

Is working together

With you, and  God

To do what was

So difficult before.
