THERE IS A DESERT IN MY MIND
There is a desert growing
Deep inside my mind,
And a red rock canyon,
Where dreams were left behind.
There is only dry wasteland,
Where green grass use to grow.
Flowers, now, dead and gone
That bloomed so long ago.
Streams dried up in their beds
That once flowed strong and true.
Skies have turned a stormy grey
That once were a deep blue.
Birds that flew on joyful wings,
Now shudder in the rain.
Happy thoughts have vanished.
My mind holds only pain.
I hold close the remnants
Of all I once believed.
Everything is changing.
I feel I’ve been deceived.
There is a wasteland lying
Deep inside my heart,
And everything I felt
Is being ripped apart.
All my good intentions,
Are lying in the dirt.
I am left with loneliness,
And a heart with hurt.
