Brother, God, grief, letting go, loss, love, poetry by Yu/stan/kema, Ranching

I'm sorry that your brother died.
I know you carry tears inside.
You called him " Brother" all your life.
Your sorrow cuts you like a knife.

He sheltered you from every harm
And had a certain kind of charm.
You saw his flaws but loved him so,
And it is hard to let him go.

I'm sure he's trying to impress
God with his own worthiness.
He worked hard to build a ranch
And acquired a cowboy stance.

Now it's time to say good-bye.
He's ridden his horse across the sky.
He knows he'll see you again
And talk with you of now and then.

Do not forget, not yet,

The dead, and the dying,

And the medical heroes who worked

To save those who were trying

Facebook Timeline. Jan.5,2017.

To take a deep breath and

Fought hard to still survive

The horrors of the pandemic.

They wanted to stay alive.

They had to deal with the pain

Of isolation and never knowing

If they would see loved ones again

Or watch deep rivers flowing.

Doctors and nurses stood near,

Aware that death hovered over them.

They said prayers for the dying

As tired eyes grew dim.

Many old soldiers left loved ones,

As they crossed oceans to fight

With comrades on distant battlefields.

They, too, saw the dying of the soul’s light.

Wars are fought on many battlefronts.

Heroes rise and often pay a price

So others can survive. Sometimes,

They make the ultimate sacrifice.

” This poem is written in honor of those who have fought in wars overseas, those fighting to save lives in the COVID-19 Pandemic in the year 2020, and those who have died.”

There once was a bird

who had no song.

He would try to sing,

but it felt all wrong.

His heart was broken.

His mother had died.

He felt so lost and

empty inside.

Photo-Found on Pinterest. Quote: Kahlil Gibran. Every Day Spirit.

He thought he would

never sing a tune.

So he tried his best

to bay at the moon.

But it felt all wrong,

and he fell asleep.

When the morning came,

he could only weep.

He refused to sit

in his nest all day.

So he chirped with birds

along the way.

They introduced him

to friends.

He finally felt that

he could mend.

On one of his flights,

He met a brown bird,

and he fell in love

with just a word.

They built a nest

and lined it with care.

Soon, little birds

chirped everywhere.

The bird who thought

he could not sing,

lifted his feathers

and took wing.

He sang, ” Cheer,cheer, “

with such great love,

That God sent him praise

from the heavens above.

I Grieve For What I Have Lost.

Article written by Yu/stan/kema., Dealing with the pain of the changes in America., grief, Losing what I once loved, The things I loved about my Country.

I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s in a country I was proud of, the United States of America. I said the Pledge of Allegiance every day at school. We learned to say all the names of the presidents in the order they served in America, the country in which I was born. We sang the names in a song,  and every time I sang the song, I was proud of them, the men who represented our Nation. They were about service, a deep commitment to our laws, a respect for the Constitution of the United States of America.

They weren’t perfect men but they were men who put their Country first, above their own selfish interests and party. They were dedicated to making the United States a place of opportunity, freedom, respect for others, helping those who needed a helping hand. They believed that in serving the American People, facts were important, truth was necessary, and what was right must prevail. They believed a man’s word was his bond, that honor was important, and most of all, they believed one should never betray the Trust of the American People.

These men knew that the right to vote was sacred and no one should lie, cheat, or steal, manipulate the votes in an American election. Falsehoods had no place in the Government. They trusted that the three main branches of the United States Government would see that the people’s voices were heard and their needs would be addressed. That those three branches would work together as intended to find solutions for all the people. They believed the United States Government would serve the American people with integrity, compassion, and respect. They also believed in protecting the American People from harm. These men could be trusted to do the right thing. I was proud of my country back then, proud of the men in congress, proud of the Presidents as the years went by.

In the year 2016, changes occurred in the United States. The Nation started to slide down hill and the years that followed were filled with laws being broken, elections manipulated, other countries interfering with American elections, and candidates for office being slandered by political parties who could no longer be civil with one another. Corruption was present in the highest offices of our Government.

The American People were being lied to, and others were being discriminated against on a daily basis. Fear was used to confuse and distract voters and keep political party members in line to please the leader. The American Press was being attacked relentlessly in order to discourage them from sharing honest information. The more immediate issues of gun violence, climate change problems, and rolled back safety regulations that prevented pollution were being  set aside so the political party in power could raise more money for their campaigns, increase their political power, and  win regardless of the cost to  the people they were sworn to protect and be accountable to.

Such changes have been hard for me to see and  live through. My moral values are being challenged constantly and the need to act becomes more pressing, for I want to live in a democracy and have freedom and justice for all. I want to feel safe in America and I want others to feel safe too. I grieve for what I once knew and for what my children may never have unless brave men of honor, compassion, and integrity come forward to work together to change our world into a better place.

blessings, Disappointments, grief, happiness, Joy, love, Poetry by Yu/stan/kema., Risk and love., sadness

I have fought so many battles

Over all these years.

I’ve come to accept

Some days are filled with tears.

For when your kind spirit

Believes there’s good in men,

Despite acts of betrayal,

You don’t give in and sin.

The weight of disappointments

Breaks your heart in two.

Even with lots of blessings,

Grief steals a part of you.

Love can make you happy.

Giving brings you joy,

Yet it often brings great sorrow

And pain that can destroy.

To risk is a gamble,

But if you do not try,

You’ll wonder what you missed,

After your last “good-bye.”

Grief comes like a quiet thief

Found on Pinterest on 2-9-16..Graphicdesignfunction. Conceptual photography. Helping hand.

In the middle of the night.

It shakes and rattles the soul

And removes all that is bright.

Grief brings forth mighty rage

And takes away happiness.

It leads a soul to hell

To doubt God’s righteousness.

Grief causes a loss of reason

And brings the mind to its knees.

It often destroys trust

And causes hope to cease.

Yet, grief can cause the heart

To turn and reach for love.

It can bring the soul to ask

For God’s help from above.

Grief can bring forth change

In the life filled with despair.

It can cause a heart to give,

Help others, and show it cares.

It can cause a man to throw

His selfish pride to the ground,

And admit he can’t do it himself

Without God coming around.

Grief can bring heaven or hell

Into the life of a man.

It’s really up to him

To do whatever he can.

I saw sweet sorrow

Follow me around the bend

Of the road by the grave-site

Of my best friend.

The words I could not speak

Seem to stick inside my throat.

The things I never did

Now seem so remote.

I took the time to follow

The path that leads down

To the place where she lies,

Six feet under the ground.

My heart weeps for her.

This loss can shatter me.

I need to let go

And accept reality.

No one understands

All the reasons why,

People sometimes change,

Despite how hard you try.

Life can bring a gift

And then take it back.

It’s not out of punishment,

Or some thing you  lack.

Nature teaches us

That life is often  strange.

Just when you get use to it,

Some thing else can change.

Death comes like a robber

In the middle of the night

And changes the faces

Of those we hold tight.

Found on Facebook Timeline on 7-24-17. Country and Farm Photography. Taken by Carolyn Anderson.

We sit beside the dying,

See the ravages of time

Reflected in our loved ones,

And feel it is a crime.

Because we feel cheated

That we’ll never see again

The energy of youth

And things that might have been.

We remember all the secrets

We wish we had told,

And words we left unspoken

While we both grew old.

No one knows the dreams

We hid deep inside,

Nor the precious moments

When we both gave in to pride.

So it is with sadness,

We watch their last breath,

As they let go of life

To embrace the arms of death.

The River rises in the darkness,

And the wind snaps giant trees.

Cold moves down from the mountains,

And plants droop as they freeze.

The storm releases its fury,

And a huge tree falls down,

To lie helpless and alone

On the hard, frozen ground.

Nature can hit without warning.

Destruction, can be the result.

Losses occur in life,

And often, it is nobody’s fault.

For storms are a part of nature,

And life gives and it takes.

Trees fall in the forest,

And loving hearts can break.

I miss seeing people smile,

Found on Pinterest on 5-30-17. Painting of Vicente Romero. Polly Weitering Art Paintings.

Taking the time to help each other,

Sitting down at the kitchen table,

And complimenting one another.

I miss seeing children read,

Playing outside in the sunlight,

Laughing so hard they cry,

And walking together at night.

I miss children saying hello,

Gathering flowers for the old,

Asking questions about God,

And sharing mittens when it’s cold.

Found on Pinterest on 5-8-16. The rain.

What happened to this world

 When we all fell asleep?

Technology took control,

And all we do is weep.
