Forgiveness is not easy

at any age we try,

for we often carry with us

harsh feelings til we die.

Found on 2-3-16. Facebook Timeline. Sojourners Path.

It takes a little patience,

and it takes a hurting heart

that wants to reconcile

what tears you both apart.

Is the person who hurt you,

important in your life?

What do you gain or lose

by keeping up the strife?

It takes an honest soul

willing to look inside

and own part of the blame,

while swallowing one’s pride.

There must be restitution

and a need to apologize,

a mindset toward acceptance

and a want to compromise.

We all need forgiveness,

to feel peace within;

Even God will forgive us

when we stumble and sin.

If God who is Holy

can accept us when we fall,

why should we hesitate

to tear down a wall?

The Meaning Of Forgiveness.

As human beings, we experience hurt on a regular basis. Life is filled with good days and days that are difficult to get through. We experience hurt when we are betrayed; when entities and people do not live up to our expectations; when we rely on others who fail to meet our needs; and when we feel disrespected by others. We feel pain, and we hurt.

When we are not appreciated for what we accomplish, or what we are as a person, the pain can be overwhelming. When our families do not support us, or the Church we belong to does not, or when we feel God has abandoned us, or our bodies and intellect fail us, and we lack self-acceptance, we can feel our world  imploding before our very eyes. We can be hurt by the actions and words of others, but we can feel unbearable pain when we do not accept ourselves as fallible human beings and  become our worst critic.

Forgiveness, I believe is a process. There is no time limit attached to it when forgiveness reaches a point where we can recognize it as finding closure. Children who grew up in an abusive situation carry a great deal of shame and guilt for not being able to feel closure about what happened to them. Some of this is due to the trauma of what happened and the denial they may feel about what occurred. We all want to have wonderful parents, but some of us did not have them. It is unfair to judge those who have not found closure yet. We did not endure what they lived through.

I believe there are levels of forgiveness. I also believe that God wants us to work on it. In the Bible, it talks about forgiving over and over someone who has sinned against us. God understood it to be a mindset, this thing called forgiveness. We must be willing to try to forgive. God knew it required processing emotions, thoughts, actions, self-examination, and making an attempt to understand what was happening in the mind and heart of those who hurt us. That takes time. It requires courage, compassion, self-reflection, and acceptance of what we did or did not do. Sometimes,  we must accept our own human weaknesses and limitations in order to forgive them in others.

Forgiveness not only helps those who have hurt us to move on with their lives, but it also enables us to be able to find peace again and get on with our lives. Forgiveness can mean being willing to wish the other well, but let them go. It can mean staying in a relationship and setting limits, and still interact with that person. It can also mean being committed to the process of working on it, so one day you can let go, but keeping space between you so you can work on it.

There will be times when God’s help and support will be needed in order for you to work on forgiveness. The reason forgiveness is so important is, it sets us free from resentment, hatred, anger, and revenge. It frees us up to embrace joy, peace, love, compassion, and express gratitude and hope.

FORGIVING MOMMA.

Do you hear me, Momma? Where are you now?

Did you end up with angels, or in the hottest hell?

Do you ever feel badly about the things you did?

Did you ever want your children? Please do tell.

Showing sweet feelings were things you always hid.

Was it because  nobody could ever  teach you how?

Do  you remember, Momma,  being drunk in bed all day,

Leaving your five children to find a way to school,

Letting them go hungry as they tried in vain to learn,

And wearing dirty clothing, trying hard to be cool,

While trying to hide the bruises and cigarette burns?

Did you ever want your children to live a different way?

Did you know the next door neighbor, who had children too,

Took the time to feed us tacos when she fed her son, Jose,

And at the super market, we were given  several snacks,

While the teachers at school wanted us to be OK,

So they gave us hot lunches, before going out to play.

Did you tell them “Thank You,” for making up for you?

I’m working on forgiving the abuse, and the shame,

All the things I didn’t get when you were always  gone,

And no one could find you or contact you,  mother

When you left your children starving in the early dawn.

We wanted you to be, someone different, another,

Who would be there for us when we called out your name.

Yu/stan/kema.

“Forgiveness is a process that occurs over time. It is sometimes difficult and it  can be soul-wrenching when the wounds are deep. It is unique to the person.

Along the way, many degrees of forgiveness can be achieved. It is up to the one that has been hurt whether forgiveness is possible; whether peace can be found; whether the hurt can be let go, or the control of the event over the rest of one’s life can occur; or is it possible to reach an understanding of the one who has hurt another and wish the transgressor good will as a result of the soul’s struggle in the end? I am sure that God will see the struggle of the one who had been hurt, and accept which ever degree of forgiveness can be achieved if he has done the best he could under the circumstances.”                                                                       Yu/stan/kema

And trusted them with all I had.

They soon proved false and left behind

Suspicion that mankind was bad.

I saw men lift the sword of war

To kill and maim the innocent.

They scorned the tears I could not hide

And increased my bewilderment.

I weighed the evidence I saw

And counted mankind but a loss,

Yet failed to realize that I

Had missed the message of the cross.

There were two friends that Jesus loved

That did betray Him for a gain

Of money and security

And caused Him so much grief and pain.

Some nailed Him high upon a cross,

A man who never did a wrong.

He only asked God to forgive

The sins of those who were along.

God gave to man His only Son

And precious was the life He lost.

How could God give the best He had

Unless mankind was worth the cost?

FORGIVENESS

For years I’ve been able to

Forgive those who wronged me.

Found on Pinterest on 1-13-16. Godfruits.com.

Found on Pinterest on 1-13-16. Godfruits.com.

It was not easy to do.

I wanted peace for myself

And to live my life anew.

But there are times when

Forgiveness can’t be given:

  • When promises are broken.
  • When a small child is hurt.
  • When someone breaks your spirit.
  • When someone steals your hope.
  • When someone breaks your trust.

I must get back to the task of liven.’

The pain is huge and my heart can’t trust.

Teach me God how to really cope.

I know that letting go is a must.

       HAPPY EASTER

Christ came to deliver us

From the cruel hands of death.

He died on the cross for us

When He took His last breath.

He came to change the old law

Of strict rules and regulations.

He brought forth a new law

Of forming good relations.

Forgiveness, love, and acceptance

Became the corner stones

That formed His new kingdom

When the Romans broke His bones.

He died for us to bring us hope

That after death comes life.

He came to teach acceptance

Of others without strife.

Jesus Christ arose

From the grave to set us free

Because He wanted us with Him

For all eternity.

I’m Going Home

I’m going home to see my Father.

Going home to rest my head,

After laying down these burdens,

On His shoulders and His chest.

Going to ask for His forgiveness.

Going to kneel beside  His feet.

Going to share with Him my sorrows.

And ask for sweet relief.

I’m going Home to see my Father.

This old world is full of pain.

I’ve had so many losses,

It’s been hard to maintain

My faith and hope in Jesus

As I’ve carried my burdens

Through the pouring rain.

I’ve nothing left to gain.

I know that He is waiting

To lift my burdens down,

To wipe away my tear drops

And put His arms around

My old, broken body

Before He places me

In His lovely Garden

With an eternal spring.

FORGIVE ME, CHILD

Child and An Angel., Forgiveness, iamachild.wordpress.com, Patricia Bratt, Pinterest picture., safety

Dear Child,

Over the years I have been able to keep you safe and free from pain. Lately, I’ve done a pretty lousy job at being your protector. I’ve taken you places to get you help, to help you get healthy and to also see a kind, loving person who would understand your hurts, give you comfort, and encourage you to grow.

Someone who could help you more than I’ve been able to. I’m not sure any more if the treatments are making you healthy or worse physically. I’ve  listened to the Dr.s, but I’m not confident any more. I know I’ve done my best at doing the right thing, but that may not be enough. I have done all I know to give information, to answer questions, to be patient. They are not listening to you. Even when you speak, you are not being heard. Even when you give from your heart over and over, no one seems to hear or care. You’ve learned to ask for what you need, but they are not hearing. Maybe they do not want to hear. It is easier for them to ignore you or tell you “no,” until you stop asking them for what you need.

So tonight, I’m asking for your forgiveness, because I have failed you. To say that to you is the hardest thing I will ever do. I am giving you  to the angels to protect you until God comes to take you home. There you will find love, acceptance, and joy as you will never find it here on earth with other people.  The angels will be kind and gentle with you and you will matter to them. Remember always, you did nothing wrong. All you did was love as a child loves. That  is never wrong. It is the one thing in this world that is absolutely right. So rest in the arms of the angels tonight, dear child. I will sleep better knowing you are safe.
