Oh fly, fly little baby,

Fly, fly little one.

When the pain hurts too much,

Let go when day is done.

Rise up on wings of fairy dust

Found on Pinterest on 12-17-16. Stephen Hayward. Stars.

And dance among the stars.

Say hello to Venus,

And wave good-bye to Mars.

Lay back against the crescent moon,

And God will rock you to sleep,

As the angels sing you a lullaby

That would make a grown man weep.

The world can be a scary place

When you are small and alone.

Let God’s finger point the way

To a home you can call your own.

Don’t let go of the Hope inside.

Reach out with your tiny hand.

Trust in others to see you through

To find peace in the Promised Land.

Life Is A Balancing Act.

     LIFE IS A BALANCING ACT.

Found on Pinterest on 4-7-17. Akhyar Maha on Five hundred,px.

From the time we are born until the time we die, we seem to juggle things in our environment in order to get our needs met or find a place of equilibrium so we can feel safe and reasonably happy.

As a baby, we learn to cry to get attention so we can signal to others that something is not as we want it to be whether it be a lack of food, water, or a clean bottom. As we grow older, we learn the cues on how to please those we rely upon for our survival. If we frown too much or scream too much, we often upset the apple cart and don’t get our needs met in the affectionate way we prefer. We may get what we want, but we may pay a price for our impatience. If we call people names or curse, we learn we may not get what we need at all.

As we grow into adulthood, we learn how to compromise, how to give in when the cost is not too prohibitive. When love comes along, we learn to sacrifice at times so the other person gets what he or she needs or wants. We learn the art of give and take, the difference between need and want, and how to analyze the pros and cons of a situation.  And sadly, we learn with a lot of pain, what happens when we give too much when the other person gives too little. We come to understand the delicate balance of caring for our own needs as well as those of other people.

As we enter in to the sunset of our lives, we find the balance between taking risks and being safe, how much to cling to and when to let go. We learn to slow down, if we are intelligent, and we take the time to be aware of what is around us and become grateful for the little things in life.

We find that we can survive with less, and that love and family is more valuable than having lots of money to spend. We become more interested in what we leave behind and what lies before us and less interested in material things. We learn that loss happens to all of us and that we need to take the time to grieve for those things that are gone. We learn to balance our expectations when coming face to face with what is, and most of all, we come to value peace, above all things. Hopefully, we find the courage to walk the tight-rope between life and death before we finally let go for the very last time.

In the green forest, I walk,

Lost in a myriad of shades

 Of green and brown.

The leaves shimmer

In the rays of the sunlight.

Some of the trees

Stand tall in the

Shadows of the forest.

I stand transfixed

By the sound of silence.

I close my eyes

And smell the rich

Soil teaming with life.

I  carry within me

An ocean of sadness.

It ‘s pain pierces me,

And leaves me

Feeling defenseless.

I am burdened by shame

And feel  the old memories

Crawl to the surface

Of my consciousness.

I yearn to feel

Cool water against

My face and hair.

I pray for peace.

I gather my strength

And walk down

The old forest trail.

I hear the sound

Of  running water

Falling against

The surfaces of rocks.

I see ahead of me

A cascade of

Small waterfalls.

I slowly walk under

The cool water,

Feeling able to breathe again.

I can feel the gentle hands

Of the falling mist

Caress my troubled brow.

I can hear the rush

Of cascading water;

 Feel the wetness

Against my dry skin;

And hear the song

The dancing water

Makes, striking stone.

I feel my pain wash away,

And God’s peace

Descend on me.

The wind blows hither and yon,

Bringing with it a fragrant bouquet

Of scents that stimulate my senses.

I am left breathless by the smells

That remind me of yester years.

Memories clutch at my heart

With cruel hands, leaving an imprint

On my unquiet mind and weary soul.

The memories come with both

Positive and negative thoughts;

A kaleidoscope of images and emotions,

That get in the way of living my life

Mindfully, moment to moment.

There must be a way to organize it all,

So that each stays in its perfect box,

Allowing me space to move and breathe

And find a place of peace.

In the next few weeks, I am going to make a commitment to myself to stay off of my computer. I love to write so this is going to be difficult. Sometimes it is wise, I believe, to go back to the old ways of communicating and being. To communicate with nature, others, my dogs, God, and myself without the use of artificial communication. When I write on the computer using one finger, it takes a long time for me to get every thing the way I want. So things get neglected. It almost feels like an addiction.

My favorite poet of all the poets is Henry Van Dyke. He wrote a poem that speaks to me at this time of my life. I need to renew my soul-nourish it. I leave you with his words as I go on my quest for peace.

Yu/sta/kema.

The Footpath To Peace

To be glad of life because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars.

To be satisfied with your possessions but not contented with yourself until you have made the best of them.

To despise nothing in the world except for falsehood and meanness, and to fear nothing except cowardice.

To be governed by your admiration rather than by your disgusts.

To covet nothing that is your neighbor’s except his kindness of heart and gentleness of manners.

To think seldom of your enemies, often of your friends, and every day of Christ;

And to spend as much time as you can, with body and with spirit in God’s out-of-doors.

These are the guideposts on the footpath to peace.

Henry Van Dyke.
