The wind blows hither and yon,

Bringing with it a fragrant bouquet

Of scents that stimulate my senses.

I am left breathless by the smells

That remind me of yester years.

Memories clutch at my heart

With cruel hands, leaving an imprint

On my unquiet mind and weary soul.

The memories come with both

Positive and negative thoughts;

A kaleidoscope of images and emotions,

That get in the way of living my life

I must stop thinking about you,

And longing for things that are gone,

Though I find your name on my lips

As I walk in the night before dawn.

 

To myself, I must never admit

Emptiness lies in my heart.

I refuse to admit you exist.

This decision tears me apart.

 

I must tell myself you are dead,

And pretend I no longer care.

I must forget that I love,

To hide all I want to share.

 

The sorrow I feel is immense.

Emotions must stay in the past.

This ache is a red-hot fire.

I must open my heart to the blast.

 

Though I pray for you every night,

I ask God, to help me forgive

The wrongs that you have done

To destroy me while I still live.

 

My love burns with a blue flame

Consuming my heart from  inside.

LOVE IS ALL

Love comes softly

And whispers in my ear:

Weep gently for those

You once loved so dear.

Do not regret the love

You gave so freely, and

The time spent learning

How to let go of  fear

That love would one day

Exact a terrible price

For having  courage to care.

It is never a waste of time

To let love have its way,

And any price is worth the cost

Of taking time to share

MANY KINDS OF LOVE

Love is a burning in the soul.

It is the wild beating of the heart.

It is a hunger that never ends.

It is giving right from the start.

 

Love is a peace that lives within.

It knows it’s safe to just let go.

Love is giving as well as caring.

It’s being loved more than you know.

 

Love is committing to someone near.

It’s wanting the best for her in life.

It’s serving  her when the need exists

Sweet Child of sorrow,

You reach out to touch

The desired  memory of

What you never got,

Still wanting  what

You can no longer have.

Time has erased

Pathways to the past.

The years make it

Impossible to touch

There are seasons of the mind

That  we come in contact with

Through out time.

We need to decide

Whether we want to be

Aware or unaware of

The changes.

It takes courage to see

What triggered us to cause

The darkness of depression

Or the joy in giving 

Heart-felt love.

It takes strength to gain

insight into Anger

And the beginning of Shame.

It takes truthfulness to see

And hold ourselves accountable

For our part in incidents.

It takes character to admit

When we are wrong and

Need to be responsible for

Making amends to those we hurt.

Openness is essential

As well as mindfulness

To make the connections between

The past and the present,

The thought and the feeling,

The heart and the soul,

and

Our behaviors and  values.

It is through such scrutiny

That we will gain the skills

To deal with the aspects of

The seasons of the mind.
