The River bends and curves

Around the neighborhood.

It ripples and swiftly flows

Like a beautiful river should.

Found on Facebook Timeline on July 31, 2016. Johanna Hurand.

A pure white egret stands

On one foot, admiring the view.

It’s graceful long neck

Is like a song sung in cue.

Geese swim in the cold water,

Their wings lift, churning the air.

One glides behind the other.

Their flight is like a prayer.

New life appears on the trees

That grow close to the shore.

Tender leaves dance and sway

Down by the river’s roar.

Beauty lies all around me,

As the world falls apart.

Storms are on the horizon,

But hope remains in my heart.

A little bug crawled on the ground,

Pulling himself with ease.

He stopped for a moment to look up,

And he felt the summer breeze.

He slowly moved through the grass,

And climbed over smelly things.

He refused to stay on the ground.

He wanted a pair of wings.

His friends became concerned

That he was out of his mind,

And needed to accept what was,

Or he’d be left behind.

But the bug wanted to fly

In a sky filled with blue.

He knew if he tried hard,

It was something he could do.

So he struggled with all his heart,

To attach some wings to his back.

After a while it was clear,

He needed to back-track.

So he climbed a tall tree,

And attached to a twig.

He slept for a while,

As his cocoon grew big.

Later, He found himself,

Struggling to get free,

Of a cocoon surrounding him,

That hung in the tall tree.

He tugged and he pulled,

As he slipped out,

Into the bight sunlight,

A butterfly….no doubt.

He drifted down to a rock,

To dry his wings in the wind.

He was happy he took a risk.

He was more than he had been.

All it took was faith in himself,

And patience for a while,

For a bug to be able to fly,

Through the air with great style.

Butterflies are miracles., Facebook Timeline photo- Johanna Hurand, Joy comes, poetry by Yu/stan/kema, Watching insects fly.

I saw a pretty insect

Flying through the air.

It went every which-way,

And didn’t seem to care.

This little bit of sunshine,

Stood out from all the rest.

It flew down to a rock.

I knew it was blessed.

It took a sip of water

And lifted its wings.

It wasn’t a bother

To watch him do

These things.

He flew in the breeze

And in the dark blue sky.

Joy filled my  grateful heart,

And it does not matter why!

Facebook Timeline photo- Johanna Hurand, Learn how to Ask For Help., poetry by Yu/stan/kema, Take care of Self when loving others.

I felt the sorrow rise in me

And knew I was no longer free,

For I, a prisoner made of me

When I could no longer see,

Me, my Self, apart from Thee.

Love took my dignity.

I thought I’d learn from the past,

And find maturity at last,

And work hard at the task

Of finally learning how to ask

For what I need and do it fast.

But the dice had been cast.

Leaving me to deal with fate,

And no way to communicate,

That I was willing to wait

And make this love great,

And not something second-rate.

But, It was too late.

Becoming mindful at the water's edge., Facebook Timeline photo- Johanna Hurand, Google+ photo-Seka Czarnowski., grass, poetry by Yu/stan/kema, Sky, Water

When I am pensive, I return

To the place where peace lies,

On water that flows from one

End of a sparkling  lake to the other.

The water starts with a ripple and soon

Cascades into a rhythmic dance of

Concentric circles that move out

From the center of the lake to

Become gentle waves pushed by

The energy of  an Autumn wind.

I am mesmerized by the pattern

In the water and  sit spell-bound,

While thousands of fire flies, lit by

The sun’s rays, kiss the lake’s surface.

The rising wind sets in motion

Long, slender stems of fall grasses.

They dance with every puff of air that

Touches their golden heads.

They sway in time with each breath I take,

Until I am one with the water, grass, and sky.

     Life is fraught with surprises

Some are good and some are not.

     They can bring forth jubilation

Or life lessons we are taught.

It is up to us to take them,

As they come, one by one.

We must learn to deal with losses,

And hard battles we have won.

     Life is so uncertain.

     Many things can go awry.

      But it is so important,

      To persist and always try.

     For when we are broken

And the end seems so near,

    The storm clouds roll away,

And we can see our way clear.

Life can make us feel humble,

Or we  end up  feeling sure

Of the strength of our character,

       And our skills to endure.

Life is not for the weak.

      To survive we must be strong;

      Learn to trust each other

And admit when we are wrong.

For life is short, not endless,

And the moments fly so fast.

We must cling to human kindness,

        And forgive what is past.

It is only in the present,

We can drink life to its brim,

And reach out toward each other

         Before our eyes grow dim.
