WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS IS LOVE

The world is in need of so many things, but what it needs most is love. All around us, we see evidence that this is true. The conflicts in Syria and Iraq, the bombings in Europe, Isis carrying out terrorist attacks in various places around the world, and the divisiveness seen in the US 2016 election. We see it in the language used in discussing politics. Most of all, our lack of love is shown by how we treat people different from us.

We hear the poor called lazy, the disabled made fun of, minorities called ugly names and being classified in terms we would never want to hear being used with us. Being good or decent is seen as being weak. Once we roll around in all this for a time, it starts affecting us physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Before long, we begin to pull away, and we yearn for something else.

We yearn for love. We want encouragement, help when our soul is in despair, or our physical needs aren’t being addressed. We want people to care whether we live or die. We want connection with others and we hunger for acts of kindness to revive us when we want to give up.

For love to happen, each one of us needs to become a light blazing in the darkness. We need to reflect love, perform acts of kindness, help others that are less fortunate than us, and have compassion and understanding for those who are different. Our light will cause other lights to shine until the darkness fades away.

The wind blows hither and yon,

Bringing with it a fragrant bouquet

Of scents that stimulate my senses.

I am left breathless by the smells

That remind me of yester years.

Memories clutch at my heart

With cruel hands, leaving an imprint

On my unquiet mind and weary soul.

The memories come with both

Positive and negative thoughts;

A kaleidoscope of images and emotions,

That get in the way of living my life

Mindfully, moment to moment.

There must be a way to organize it all,

So that each stays in its perfect box,

Allowing me space to move and breathe

And find a place of peace.

I am “Me,”

An individual with

A sense of dignity.

Treat me as

Other men.

No man is

Capable of

Being perfect.

Therefore,

Accept me

As I am.

Respect me.

Believe in me.

Trust me.

For I am of use

To the world.

Time will tell

What my goal

In life shall be.

I too, am a man

Worthy of

Some respect.

I cry out to you!

“Leave me

My silences.

Let me think

My own way.

I am human.

Remember that!

For I am entitled

To self-respect.

Only I can make

A heaven out of hell,

Or a hell out of heaven

In my life.

Therefore,

Let me walk!”

The Greater Way.

Don’t make dreams your master

Yet keep a place apart

Where dreams can slowly fashion

Hope within your heart.

Learn to take the heartache

With your head held high.

Put your trust in heaven.

Do not question why.

Don’t let anger rule you,

Or cause your soul to hate

And end up fully bitter

Blaming it on fate.

Learn to love the doubters,

And the ones who lied.

Keep a forgiving spirit

By swallowing your pride.

Don’t rely on others

To keep your honor clean.

Learn to be sufficient

Should others need to lean.

Learn to give to all men

Of the self entire.

Let love burn forever

With the warmth of fire.

Don’t put off tomorrow

What you can do today.

Learn to be more kind

To those along the way.

Seek to honor all men.

Be the best you are.

You will ride the high wind

To sit among the stars

Eckhart Tolle, for contentment, for happiness, for joy, for love, for peace, for purpose, Google+ picture, pinterest picture quote, Searching the world, Seeing from a distance, Walter Mohrle

Found on Google+ on 5-3-15. The Lone Wanderer. Walter Mohrle.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 We often leave home to take a journey into the unknown. We want to experience all the things we’ve never experienced before. We want to live life to the fullest, climb mountains to see what exists on the other side. We want to grow in ways we never believed it was possible to grow. We want to stretch our minds to infinity and probe the deep pools that exist inside our own hearts and souls. We seek to become, to be what we have no words to describe. We want to find love, joy, happiness, peace, contentment, purpose, and we want to give something of value to the world.

We travel over many hills and valleys. When we finally get to the top of a mountain, we take a break and rest. While resting, we discover that most of the things that we         were searching for can readily be found within ourselves. Our sense of purpose lies   within our own minds. No one gives that to us. We find it within ourselves. Peace       comes from within, first learning to forgive our own imperfections and failures, and then learning to accept the imperfections and failures of others. This takes time and hard work.

Contentment, happiness, and joy come from focusing on what we have now and to be grateful for what is ours in the present. We have to learn to let go of that which we do not have. This is one of the hardest tasks we will ever accomplish. It means doing away with anger, bitterness, and greed and to stop fighting the inevitable.  It means to stop trying to fix what is not ours to fix.

We find that it is in giving of ourselves and our time, that we become love and we are loved. It is God in us that enables us to love. The more we give, the more love flows from God through us and into the hearts of others. We have to be able to love ourselves in order to love as God loves, without limit.
