There is a touch of Autumn in the air.                                    14440943_332498027098579_1325251715465713705_n-fbtl

Birds are busy flying every where.

Autumn has arrived a month late.

And birds have to act, not hesitate.

They search for shelter from the cold wind,

A place, they sense, is easy to defend.

Birds are just trying to survive.

They want to keep their loved one’s alive.

Still, they find the time to soar the sky

And wave their wings to God as they fly by.                                                       Facebook photo- Oct. 2016.

The strong wind of Autumn strikes my door

And urges me to bundle up for more.

I choose to stock my shelves to over-flowing,

So i can eat well when the snow starts blowing.

My faithful dog keeps me company,

And when I walk her, she protects me.

I read and write to fill my hungry mind.

Still, I miss the touch of human kind.

By loving God and others, I’m made whole,

For I am feeding my lonely soul.

God created a Garden

Veronique-coutie. Found on Pinterest-3-8-19.

With such infinite care.

He filled it with lovely trees

And flowers that were rare.

He stood near a lofty giant

And touched its bark with His hands.

He could feel the tree sap flowing

As He gazed toward distant lands.

He carved the earth for a river

That would water the plants that grew

Throughout the Garden of Eden

That He had made brand new.

He was pleased when the river filled

With the rain He caused to fall

Over the grasses and flowers

And where the trees stood tall.

God walked in the cool of the evening

After the sun went down.

He enjoyed the beauty of summer

And sleeping on the ground.

Yet, He found something was missing

Found on Pinterest on 6-21-18. Nature Walkz.com. By Christopher Gandy.

That would make it more complete.

So He created the birds to sing

Sweet notes they could repeat.

And the world was far more lovely

When He placed stars in the sky

And a moon to lighten the darkness

As the night drew nigh.

God loved what He had created

And was happy for a while,

But something was still missing.

He longed for another’s smile.

God created human companions

Who could love and converse with Him,

And  share in the beautiful music

Of the heavenly seraphim.

The Bird Who Could Not Sing.

There once was a bird

who had no song.

He would try to sing,

but it felt all wrong.

His heart was broken.

His mother had died.

He felt so lost and

empty inside.

Photo-Found on Pinterest. Quote: Kahlil Gibran. Every Day Spirit.

He thought he would

never sing a tune.

So he tried his best

to bay at the moon.

But it felt all wrong,

and he fell asleep.

When the morning came,

he could only weep.

He refused to sit

in his nest all day.

So he chirped with birds

along the way.

They introduced him

to friends.

He finally felt that

he could mend.

On one of his flights,

He met a brown bird,

and he fell in love

with just a word.

They built a nest

and lined it with care.

Soon, little birds

chirped everywhere.

The bird who thought

he could not sing,

lifted his feathers

and took wing.

He sang, ” Cheer,cheer, “

with such great love,

That God sent him praise

from the heavens above.

A small child wandered through the forest

Looking for hope, hungry for a bit of faith

That something existed bigger than her.

She needed to find a reason for being.

Found on Pinterest on 4-29-17. bonitavista.tumblr.com. Mayford Woods, CrewKerne, Somerset.

She leaned against a giant tree

And put her arms around its trunk.

She closed her eyes and tried to rest.

After an hour had passed, she noticed

The bark of the tree was rough.

Insects scurried back and forth

In between the ridges in the bark.

The tree provided shelter and food

For the insects passing by.

She breathed in the cool air

And embraced the solitude that

Surrounded her in the forest glade.

A bird flew above her head

And perched on the tree’s branches.

Found on Facebook Timeline on 8-8-16. Rocky Mountain Angel.

Nearby, came the chirps from a nest

Hidden in a canopy of leaves and twigs.

Again, this tree was providing shelter

For many of the creatures in the forest.

The child could feel the energy coming

From the heart and soul of the tree.

She could feel its unique vibrations

Enter her body and expand her soul,

Until she too felt as one with the tree.

“I feel renewed,” she cried.

Found on Pinterest on 4-30-17. Saved from an article on facilisimo.com.

“This energy is bigger than me.

I too, am made by God’s hand

To provide support for those

In need of renewal and hope.”

“All of us are  part of the whole,”

She said.

Drink in the fragrance anew,

And make a cherished memory.

                1960

A child went forth every day

To see the bluest skies.

The air she breathed was very clean.

Delight was in her eyes.

The trees grew tall within the woods

As birds flew all around.

She laughed and sang and danced a jig.

She knelt upon the ground.

She gave great thanks to He who gave

Such beauty for her soul.

For she and Mother Nature knew,

They all could make her whole.

                 2025

A child went looking for a sky

That was a lovely blue.

She wore a mask upon her face,

But toxins came right through.

She looked in vain for greener trees,

And sat upon the hill.

She saw the devastation from,

What oil and gas could kill.

She wanted water that was clear,

To satisfy her thirst.

But all the water she could find,

By mankind had been cursed.

     THE WATERFALL

In the middle of a trauma,

I returned to the mountains

And the forests of Colorado,

Seeking refuge for a troubled soul.

Nerves on edge, skin prickling, and

With a heavy load of anxiety,

Random thoughts zipped across

The peripheral edges of my mind.

They became impossible to catch,

Let alone read in any coherent way.

Sweat covered my skin with a thin layer

Of cold perspiration and I shivered

In the shade of the pine trees.

Breathing was difficult as I walked.

I was alert to every sound in the forest.

I became aware of a roar, almost hidden,

By the sounds of birds calling out to each other.

The sounds were soft and tender like love notes

Being sent to one’s mate as a reminder that love

Beat in his heart, and he wanted the world to know.

The sound of falling water fell upon my ears,

The rushing of many streams flowing into one.

The roar filled my senses and l became aware of

Strength, power,  and an incredible feeling of joy.

Joy because the roar replaced my anxiety.

My thoughts slowed as I watched the water fall.

Watching each droplet separate from the other,

I felt my heartbeat slow to the sound  of the

Splatter of water hitting the rocks below.

I felt my muscles slowly unravel from being rigid.

Flowers of all different colors grew by the water.

Each flower filled my nose with a delightful aroma.

The sounds and sights blended into a place filled

With happiness and joy. Peace came in to my soul.

Now, right away a female bird,

Preened and fluffed her feathers white.

She cocked her head, to hear a word

From him who was a handsome sight:

“I’ve floated in sweet Lake Louise,

And sent bird calls o’er mountain tops,

And ate from many kinds of crops.”

He stretched his neck with so much pride,

And stirred the water with huge wings.

When his feathers opened wide,

She  heard the song that nature sings.

So powerful and strong was he,

She almost wept. She could have died.

So wonderful, this ecstasy

That came up inside her breast.

She felt so beautiful and free,

She wanted them to build a nest.

She wanted him from all the rest.

Suddenly, he cocked his head.

He heard a bird cry from afar.

He rose and flew away instead,

Toward the brightest evening star.

She was left alone  to cope

With all this sorrow in her heart.

She knew it wouldn’t work to hope,

For he had ripped her soul apart.

So she swam back to the group

Of birds that played  in water green.

She tried hard to not be seen.

A  male bird made a lazy loop,

Spread ripples round her as she swam.

He refused to leave her side,

Said he wasn’t on the lam.

He said he’d swim the pond with her;

Protect her from the bitter cold;

To stay with her, he would prefer;

And be with her as they grew old.

She grew to love him by and by.

A beauty rare, a ruby-red.

I knew its color would not fade.

I could not hold such feelings in.

My heart cried out with joy and pain.

The ache grew big inside my soul.

My tears, they mingled with the rain.

A moment with that cardinal bird,

Enabled me to live again.
