In honor of mothers everywhere who strive to carry out  the task of being a nurturing, caring mother, I am reposting this article I wrote about a year ago, in celebration of Mother’s Day. You are the glue that holds society together and that keeps families engaged throughout time. Thank you, for all you do in the name of love.   Yu/stan/kema

When a mother really loves her children, that love lasts forever. It is unconditional love like God loves us, and like God,  mothers have sacrificed what is needed throughout the years to see that their children thrive, survive, and grow to one day live free. Even when her children are gone, her prayers, her thoughts, go with them. She stands at a distance, but the caring, the sharing never stops.

She let’s her children know her love goes with them, and they can carry her within their hearts. When the tough times come, they can hear her voice and share her wisdom. She lets them know she believes in them, in their goodness, and their dreams. Good mothers love their children forever. They leave it up to God to deal with judgement. Her task is to reflect God’s love,  and show them that God will be fair, just, and forgiving, and always willing to love them unconditionally. God created mothers to carry out this  sacred duty called trust, so that her children will come to know Him and trust Him.

a mother's love, Google+ photo., Moyin Chaudhary, Philomina Minj., poetry by Yu/stan/kema, Protection., Sons

There is nothing in this world that can equal a mother’s love for her child. The moment you see him and hold him for the first time is magical. You never forget the feel of his ears and the grip of his tiny hands. You guard him fiercely and your heart breaks with love. You know, without a shadow of a doubt, you would give your life to keep him safe and well. This poem was written when my son left home to go to college.

Last night I sat within your room

And watched you fall asleep.

Your face was like a little boy’s.

Your sheets were in a heap.

It seemed like only yesterday

I saw you learn to walk.

You listened to each word I said

And you began to talk.

The years went by and you were old

Enough to go to school.

You soon learned many ways,

To handle ridicule.

I taught you how to ride a bike;

You taught me how to see

The world through someone else’s eyes.

We felt an ecstasy.

I guess it was because you knew

I loved you as my son,

And you would still remain within

My heart as “number one.”

I know the time is near at hand.

My child will disappear.

My eyes are wet. I feel such pride.

A man will soon appear.

I had a dream the other night

That God sat on His throne.

He bent His head and spoke to me

With such a loving tone.

He said sometimes we just don’t know

The reasons  things occur.

But He is able to foresee

The big picture.

I sat by God and saw this child

That struggled to survive.

He seemed so sad and so alone,

Unloved and so deprived.

I saw a hundred other kids

Who had it just as bad.

I saw God wipe away a tear.

He looked so very sad.

Then He spoke about a plan

To make such children smile:

He sent a special woman down

To make their lives worth while.

I was astonished when I saw

The life that she would live.

He gave to her a mother’s love,

The power to forgive.

She gave a lot straight from her heart.

She wiped away their tears.

She guided lives with loving care

Through out their childhood years.

God knew she needed special skills,

A warm and gentle soul.

To mend broken hearts like these

And make the pieces whole.

And so He placed her in their lives

And watched them grow, with pride.

Because He knew she took His love

and placed it inside

Every child she touched with care.

God’s love was passed along

Until His love was multiplied

And it became a song.
