love, faith, Poetry by Yu/stan/kema., rain, Like, baby's laugh, small stream, oak tree

Love is like the soft touch
Of a gentle rain.
It soothes the hurting soul
And removes the pain.

Love is like the sweet sound
Of a baby's laugh.
It stays when losses come
And cuts sorrow in half.

Love is like a small stream
That helps flowers grow.
It keeps the soul alive
When the cold wind blows.

Love is like an oak tree
Whose roots go deep.
Its' strength keeps it standing
Even when it weeps.

Love goes on forever
When the heart is fed
On a regular basis as
Faith raises its head.

My Dog Fuzzy, Photo taken by Yu/stan/kema, poetry by Yu/stan/kema, The love for a dog lasts forever

Scanned by Yu/stan/Kema on 2-18-16. Personal photograph.
I had a fuzzy little dog
With golden, brownish hair.
He ran with me across the yard,
His nose up in the air.

His body shook with ecstasy
Each time he smelled some food.
He hunted down and gobbled up
Good meat with gratitude.

His ruff was thick around his head,
And it was white as snow.
And everywhere I tried to walk,
He was sure to go.

His brown eyes sparkled in the sun.
His tongue was long and pink.
He smiled when we were having fun.
One time I saw him wink.

He'd lay beside me in the grass,
His head upon my knee.
The joy we shared was multiplied
When he would laugh at me.

He is deceased, but still I think
Of him when he would lay
And look at me with soft brown eyes.
I miss him every day.

A Poem For Boys

He ran down a crooked path,
Across a crooked snake.
It's fangs barely missed him.
I was glad for his sake.

He drove to the bayou
For an alligator's hide.
It opened up it's mouth
And pulled him inside.

It's rows of teeth were scarey
And the smell he could not bear.
It belched him out completely
Into the cold, moist air.

I think he learned a lesson,
To follow straight paths instead.
And avoid all alligators
And be careful where he treads.

Christmas, gifts, giving, God, God's gift of Christ, Holly, Pinterest photo-3-9-16, Poetry by Yu/stan/kema; photo on Pinterest, Wreaths

Found on Pinterest on 3-9-16. Christ in the air.
It is the time for Christmas
For we smell the Christmas trees
And see the Holly's red berries
Wrapped around the wreaths.

The weather has turned colder
And snow is in the air.
There is a spirit of giving
Found in hearts everywhere.

The sound of Christmas carols
Makes our spirits bright.
We celebrate the Christ child
Who reflects God's light.

God gives to us His Son,
A gift that sets us free
From death so we can live
For all eternity.

Autumn leaves, Beauty in all seasons, Bonfires, Children's faces, Cool breezes, Each season is a gift, Nature Addict photo by Michelle Steenburn., poetry by Yu/stan/kema

Rain is falling from the sky
And leaves are twirling nearby.
I kick the dead leaves in the street
And smile at everyone I meet.

The trees are dressed in orange and red,
Their leaves respendent overhead.
A cool breeze dances through the trees
Right before a good, hard freeze.

Bonfires are burning in the night.
Children's faces reflect the light.
Autumn brings a lot of fun
After Summer's finally done.

Fall is such a special time.
Everything is in it's prime.
Each season is God's gift to us.
Fall leaves are simply glorious.

Drought, Poetry by Yu/stan/kema., Prayer to God., rain

It took a long time for the rain to come.
The effects of the drought were burdensome.
Tree branches died from the lack of rain
Trees, not surviving, brought us pain.

We waited for months for the rain to arrive.
We prayed to God: "Help the trees survive."
We heard thunder, and saw clouds overhead.
We knew God had heard the words we had said.

We laughed as the rain fell down on our face.
The sound of raindrops, we could not erase.
God brought us the rain because He cares,
And He taught us about the power of prayer.

Autumn joys, Nature Addict photo by Michelle Steenburn., poetry by Yu/stan/kema

There is a touch of Autumn
Lingering in the air.
The leaves are falling downward
And trees will soon be bare.

The grass is turning yellow
And birds are on the wing.
It won't be long until
We have forgotten Spring.

The harvest moon is coming
And long walks in the woods.
We'll build a roaring campfire
And put on our jacket hoods.

Cold cheeks in late October
And the making of S'Mores
Reminds us of the wonder
Of going out-of-doors.

Gardening, poetry by Yu/stan/kema, Simple joys in life, Tomatoes

I love to grow tomatoes
In the summer time.
The taste of the ripe fruit
Is best in its prime.
They have delicious flavor
As they ripen on the vine.
I'll eat a few for supper
With dandelion wine.
I can buy them at the store,
But the taste is not the same
As when they're eatten in the field
And have a famous name.
"Beefsteak " is my favorite
And so is "Better Boy."
It's the simple things in life
That bring us so much joy.

Life is full of joy and sorrow.
We never know what comes tomorrow.
We make plans with baited breath
While pushing back the hands of death.
We try to play the hero's part
With an arrow in our heart.

We gather flowers as we go.
The years fly by and bring us woe.
The losses come one by one,
And we feel our life is done.
We are told to carry on
And embrace the coming dawn.

We feel such emptiness within.
We weep for what life might have been.
Our hopes and dreams have flown away,
And still we're staying one more day.
Our courage keeps us living here
After losing all that's dear.

Consequences Of War.

children, civilians, Consequences of war, losses, poetry by Yu/stan/kema, Ukraine

A little girl with tattered clothes
Walked on the bombshelled ground.
Tears flowed down her dirt-stained cheeks.
She did not make a sound.

Bombs were falling from the sky.
Her body shook with fear,
And yet she kept on walking.
She had lost what she held dear.

She saw dead bodies in the street
And heard some soldiers laugh.
The Russians blew up what they could
And took things in their path.

She found a place to hide again
And packed herself in tight.
The cold stones protected her.
She slept through the night.

The sun came up to welcome her
And down the road she went.
She found no food or water
And her energy was spent.

She searched in vain for family
The war had ripped away.
She knew there was no one
Who would ask her to stay.

The emptiness she felt inside
Was like a giant hole.
Her faith in God had disappeared.
She feared for her soul.

War came to the streets of Kiev.
It would not stay the same.
Brave men would die and one small child
On the streets of Ukraine.
