For Christ, He has risen.

Lift your voices to the skies,

We now have a new vision.

Once, death we could not overcome

and losses multiplied.

We knew we’d never see again

Loved ones who died.

But Christ has made it possible

For us to live again,

In a different place and time

Absolved of all sin.

We’ll greet the ones who touched our lives

And hold our loved ones near.

We’ll play with our special pets,

And wipe away a tear.

We’ll sit near the Lamb of God

As He tells a story.

We’ll marvel at His parables

And drink in His glory.

Sing praises for the Holy One,

Who died for you and me,

So we could live with peace and joy

For an eternity.

With every rising of the sun

Found on Pinterest on 10-24-16. Thich Nhat Hanh.

Think of your life as just begun.

The past has shrived and buried deep

All yesterdays-there let them sleep….

Concern yourself with but today,

Woo it and teach it to obey,

Your wish and will. Since time began

Today has been the friend of man….

You and today! a soul sublime

And the great pregnant hour of time.

With God between to bind the twain,

Go forth, I say, attain, attain.

ELLA WHEELER WILCOX-

“When we allow ourselves to be consumed with anxiety about the future, we rob ourselves of the precious moments of today, and the blessings each day can bring.    We can become blind to what is good and lovely. For the sake of our souls, we must    focus on the good or else we will drown in our despair.”

Let's bring kindness back., Pinterest photo quote- Emily Dickinson., Pinterest photo quote-the funnybeaver.com, Poetry by Yu/stan/kema., The need for kindness

People have forgotten

How to watch each other’s back.

Consumed with our problems,

It’s common sense we lack.

Found on Pinterest on 4-20-17. the funnybeaver.com.

We have become complacent

Living self-indulgent lives.

We don’t take time to notice

Tears in someone’s eyes.

We turn away our faces,

From the poor on the street.

We check our cell phones,

As we quickly retreat.

We tell ourselves we’re happy,

Avoiding other  people’s pain.

We refuse to shelter others

From the pouring rain.

Yet, think how much better

This whole world could be,

If I was kind to you,

And you were kind to me.

Found on Pinterest on 4-20-17. Poem by Emily Dickinson.

A little human kindness

Could go a long way,

Towards making earth a heaven

By the kind words we say.

So, let’s help one another,

With compassion in our souls,

Respect Mother Nature,

And make kindness our goal.

Loving kindness is the key

For us all, to survive.

Let’s trust one another,

And keep hope alive.

Nothing in life is really as it seems,

For hope can end up smashed by someone’s fist.

Innocence comes from within, lighting our soul

With beauty, truth, and absolute joy.

We believe that others can make us whole,

That ideals can lead us to glory.

Sooner or later, we are taken down,

And our hearts are torn to pieces.

We search for a hole in the cold ground,

We choose to give up or we fight,

To deal with the burden of pain.

For we know, if we extinguish the light

Of hope, we’ll go insane.

“The hardest task in the world for me is to have faith. I believe in God and I know He is present. My difficulties lie with believing He deems me worthy of His attention when so many others are going through tough times. I have trouble believing He won’t get distracted by some one else. I am aware that having parents and friends who weren’t reliable has left its mark on me. I grew up knowing that if  I believed someone would come and save me, I was in for a big disappointment. I learned the hard way, that it was up to me if I wanted a better life and a satisfying one. That is a comforting way to live when you are young, strong, resourceful, and quick.

The difficulties of having faith become more obvious when old age approaches. Life becomes unpredictable. Illness strikes when you least expect it. Money becomes less plentiful, and friends and family members move or die. Losses start to multiply. Your strength starts to fail and you forget things. It becomes harder and harder to save yourself. You learn that asking for help is a rational thing to do and some tasks are just too difficult. So you learn to pray, and you ride the tough times out. You find out by experience how to adjust to change, and you discover a new level of spirituality. You also take a journey inside yourself to rediscover who you are and where you fit in God’s great design.”

WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS IS LOVE

Found on Facebook Timeline on 1-5-17. Sandra Kring.

Found on Facebook Timeline on 1-5-17. Sandra Kring.

The world is in need of so many things, but what it needs most is love. All around us, we see evidence that this is true. The conflicts in Syria and Iraq, the bombings in Europe, Isis carrying out terrorist attacks in various places around the world, and the divisiveness seen in the US 2016 election. We see it in the language used in discussing politics. Most of all, our lack of love is shown by how we treat people different from us.

We hear the poor called lazy, the disabled made fun of, minorities called ugly names and being classified in terms we would never want to hear being used with us. Being good or decent is seen as being weak. Once we roll around in all this for a time, it starts affecting us physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Before long, we begin to pull away, and we yearn for something else.

We yearn for love. We want encouragement, help when our soul is in despair, or our physical needs aren’t being addressed. We want people to care whether we live or die. We want connection with others and we hunger for acts of kindness to revive us when we want to give up.

For love to happen, each one of us needs to become a light blazing in the darkness. We need to reflect love, perform acts of kindness, help others that are less fortunate than us, and have compassion and understanding for those who are different. Our light will cause other lights to shine until the darkness fades away.

All Americans have a difficult task before them.

To choose or not to choose, or stay silent.

I am reminded of the words that: ” to do nothing

ensures that evil will go on.”1

It takes a lot of courage to make a choice.

Years from now, we may look back

At this election and realize, that “Now,”

Was the critical moment in time for

Us to decide the fate of Our Nation,

And a  cherished way of life.

We decide to be a Nation with

Equality and Justice for All;

Discrimination towards None;

Having respect towards women;

Honoring  the Democratic Process

That we hold dear as Americans;

Fostering an attitude of unification;

Working together to solve problems,

And seeing the best in one another;

Or, we choose divisiveness for Our Nation;

Hatred and a refusal to accept responsibility

For our own actions;

Having an attitude of disrespect for women;

And mocking and disrespecting the Democratic

Process, and  those who are different from us.

Make no mistake.  We choose,

Or we remain silent, which also is a choice.

We choose to improve our Country or

Let others destroy it.

The fate of This Nation lies in Our hands.

Grieving Is Difficult After A Death Occurs.

Article by Yu/stan/kema., Finding comfort., Grieving our loved ones., People who have died., Pets who have died., Photo quotes from Pinterest.

When grief comes, it can creep up slowly and take us by surprise. Other times, it can come with the speed of a freight train and hit us in the chest, knocking us off track. It can also throw us into denial, where we actually refuse to admit some thing terrible has happened or is now real. Whatever way grief arrives, it leaves us with feelings unlike any other emotions we may experience.

If the person or animal lived with us, it leaves a hole, and our surroundings trigger the loss over and over every time we see possessions of the ones we cherished. If we were dependent on the loss for comfort, companionship, sense of family,  or other tasks valuable to us, the loss feels more intense.

I believe some people enter our lives and stay for a while, lighting our path, and giving us joy. They bandage our wounds. They show us over and over that they care for us, and they stay in our hearts for a lifetime. They make us rich with their time and attention. Our memories bind us to them and remind us of how lucky we were to have them in our lives.

Our pets become our family. We take care of them and they take care of us. We see them daily, talk to them, even when they don’t talk back to us. We learn their non-verbal behavior so we can meet their needs better, and they learn ours because they love us. Losing them cuts us to the heart.  We can weep for days, see our pet everywhere we go. They were ours and we belonged to them. It is normal to grieve such a friend. It is normal to miss them.

I grieved a tri-colored collie who died of old age years ago and thought I would never be able to let her go. After months of grieving, I sat in my kitchen crying, and closed my eyes. Suddenly, I saw my dog in heaven running up and down the green hills, laughing, and so happy. She was looking back for me. The image stayed with me. I stopped crying, and felt peace. I knew she was in heaven waiting for us to run again.

Since then, I have been able to let her go because I knew she had no pain. She could walk and she could run, and she was happy. I knew she was in a better place. I am convinced that God chose that moment in time to let me know we were both going to be OK. The pictures and memories of the time we spent together comfort me. She and I will, one day,  play again.

A small act of kindness

Can save a battered tree,

From dying in the forest

So others could not see

Its beauty over time.

A good man could save it

And let it grow sublime.

A small act of kindness

Can feed a child of five,

Who hasn’t eaten something

And is failing to thrive.

A gift of food could feed her

And keep her alive.

Be kind and let love occur.

A small act of kindness

Can cheer a weary soul,

Bring her out of darkness,

Replace what others stole,

And put her on the road

Where God could make her whole.

Go ahead and lighten her load.

A small act of kindness

Found on Pinterest on 7-3-16.

Found on Pinterest on 7-3-16.

Can set the world on fire,

And raise a man to greatness,

For others to admire:

The goodness found inside him–

Love for others, his desire.

He died, with eyes grown dim.

A small act of kindness

Can be a touch or look,

That expresses your caring,

Or it can be a cherished book.

It can be the time taken

To talk or even cook.

Act to heal those forsaken.

Kindness is a virtue

That is sorely needed now,

To heal the wounded heart,

Or soothe a restless brow.

It can make a man kneel,

Cause a proud man to bow,

Or it can help a sad heart heal.

Hope And Despair Lives In Each Of Us.

A lake of sorrow grows., Courage is going on in the face of loss., Hope and despair live in us.., Losses pile up., Pinterest photo quote- Sanober Khan., Pinterest photo quote-mediawebs.com., poetry by Yu/stan/kema

Sorrow rises up from the bottom of

A lake that lies in the center of my heart.

The lake has been there since the

Beginning of my life…my birth.

It was small in the beginning,

But time has added many pockets

Of sadness to the rippling surface of

The water, increasing it’s size.

It’s boundaries expand to take in

More pain, more hurt, and uncertainty.

The energy it takes, to hold back the force

Of all that misery and senseless grief,

Yearns to release  the sorrow in the open air.

Abandonment, betrayal of all that one holds dear,

And loss of freedom, in a prison of sorts, that lasted

Eight long years, and every day filled with aching

Loneliness, and a longing for love that did not come,

Left its toll on a heart that only wanted to give.

Youth, the launching of a great career, and marriage,

Kept the surface of the water calm and the self at rest.

But the passage of time brought losses and grief.

One by one the losses disturbed the peaceful calm

Of the lake lying in the center of my heart.

Now age robs me of, the energy I once had;

Found on Pinterest on 5-15-16. Sanober Khan.

Found on Pinterest on 5-15-16. Sanober Khan.

And the loss of a job and money I once made,

Makes my life difficult to accept and endure.

Illness affects my mind and body every day.

Loved ones have gone and friends have disappeared.

People say, “Think positive thoughts, and pray.

God is all you need. Be self-reliant and be strong.

It will be OK., the future lies ahead. Love is on its way.”

“Now is all I have. My body’s tired, and my life is done.”

This I say, and “I’m not sure, there is another day.”

They can not see such platitudes do nothing when

Hope no longer wants to live at my address.

Courage is, I think, going on when all hope is gone.
