Shine the light that lies within you

Found on Pinterest on 10-24-16. Thich Nhat Hanh.

Given by a loving God.

Let its rays do the healing.

Let love be a lightning rod.

Let light overcome the darkness.

Let hope grow in every soul.

Let peace come to war-torn travelers,

For God’s grace shall make them whole.

There will be tribulations.

Loss will knock you to the ground.

You must rise to meet the challenge.

Soon, we’ll all be heaven-bound.

Be a part of building bridges.

Reach your hand to one another.

Put your differences aside,

And acknowledge he’s your brother.

Shine God’s light. Shine your light

Even in the darkest night.

Always try to do what’s right.

God’s protection is in sight.

There comes a time when you give up,

Because you’ve had enough.

Positive thoughts no longer work

And emotions can’t be stuffed.

The heart can only take so much

Until it breaks in two,

And mending is impossible

No matter what you do.

You think they will come around

And be like they once were,

But hurtful actions that they do

Cause heartaches to occur.

Love needs lots of nourishment,

Attention, and respect.

It grows with time and thoughtfulness

And the absence of neglect.

Even when you want to try,

You need to walk away,

Before you lose your dignity,

And self-respect one day.

Accepting our differences, Creating a future with others., Photo Quote: Dalai Lama., Pinterest photo-Helping hands., poetry by Yu/stan/kema, Reaching out to others., We all need somebody.

Reach out your hand.

I’ll reach out mine too.

Go and get your neighbors.

We will all make it through.

Whatever else happens

In this land that I love,

We must remember

What we are capable of.

See the man on the corner

In need of some food?

Don’t ask if he’s worthy.

Change your attitude.

If a black man passes

You on the street,

Just nod, say,”Good morning.”

There’s no need for defeat.

Reach out with a hand

To the Muslims and Jews.

We are searching for answers

In the religions we choose.

There’s no need in proving

Who’s right or who’s wrong.

Let’s encourage each other

By sharing our songs.

For by loving our neighbors

And doing what’s right,

We’ll create a future

That’s hopeful and bright.

“The Rhodora,” by Ralph Waldo Emerson and quote from Yu/stan/kema.

beauty, flowers, Poem- The Rhodora., Poetry of Ralph Waldo Emerson., Quotation by Yu/stan/kema., Rhodora

” This poem is very descriptive and beautiful in catching all the ways a flower is special and full of beauty. There is an amount of tenderness in how he gently puts words to the sheer loveliness of its bloom. I can almost see him caressing its petals with a finger. Ralph Waldo Emerson  knew its value as a flower when he wrote: ‘Beauty is its own excuse for being.’

The heart indeed, craves what it needs. The soul needs beauty in order to survive the heartbreaks in life.”    Yu/stan/kema

THE RHODORA

In May, when sea-winds pierced our solitudes,

I found the fresh Rhodora in the woods,

Spreading the leafless blooms in a damp nook,

To please the desert and the sluggish brook.

The purple petals, fallen in the pool,

Made the black water with their beauty gay;

Here might the redbird come his plumes to cool,

And court the flower that cheapens his array.

Rhodora! if the sages ask thee why

This charm is wasted on the earth and sky,

Tell them, dear, that if eyes were made for seeing,

Then Beauty is its own excuse for being:

Why thou wert there, O rival of the rose!

I never thought to ask, I never knew:

But, in my simple ignorance, suppose

The self-same Power that brought me there brought you.

They had to deal with the pain

Many old soldiers left loved ones,

As they crossed oceans to fight

With comrades on distant battlefields.

They, too, saw the dying of the soul’s light.

Wars are fought on many battlefronts.

Heroes rise and often pay a price

So others can survive. Sometimes,

They make the ultimate sacrifice.

There once was a bird

who had no song.

He would try to sing,

but it felt all wrong.

His heart was broken.

His mother had died.

He felt so lost and

empty inside.

Photo-Found on Pinterest. Quote: Kahlil Gibran. Every Day Spirit.

He thought he would

never sing a tune.

So he tried his best

to bay at the moon.

But it felt all wrong,

and he fell asleep.

When the morning came,

he could only weep.

He refused to sit

in his nest all day.

So he chirped with birds

along the way.

They introduced him

to friends.

He finally felt that

he could mend.

On one of his flights,

He met a brown bird,

and he fell in love

with just a word.

They built a nest

and lined it with care.

Soon, little birds

chirped everywhere.

The bird who thought

he could not sing,

lifted his feathers

and took wing.

He sang, ” Cheer,cheer, “

with such great love,

That God sent him praise

from the heavens above.

Compassion., giving, helping, kindness, Pinterest photo-Dalai Lama., poetry by Yu/stan/kema, positiveness, respect, Taking time, unifying people.

All it takes is a little bit of kindness

spread through out the world,

and a little bit of patriotism

when you see the flag unfurled.

Found on Pinterest on 2-9-16. helping hands. Dalai Lama.

All it takes is a little respect

toward every one you meet,

and a word of encouragement

to those who have known defeat.

All it takes is an act of compassion

when you see a wounded heart,

and some time to create a bond

right from the very start.

All it takes is being positive

when the world knocks you down,

and the courage to get up

from the hard, cold ground.

All it takes is each of us reaching

a hand to those in need

to make this world a better place

where all of us can succeed.

For by taking the time to respect each other

and wanting the best for all,

we will come together to make a world

without building a wall.

A MAN WHO LOVES THE SOIL

I think a man who loves the soil,

Harvesting a wheat field in S. Dakota. travelsd.com. Found on Pinterest.

Who bends above the fertile earth,

And plants the seed with calloused hands

Must be a gentle man of worth.

A man who cherishes the sod

Must surely be a friend of God!

I think a man who loves the soil;

Who nurtures every growing thing,

And watches with expectancy

For nature’s fruitful harvesting,

Who oft has plowed the lands he’s trod,

Must be a partner of God.

I think a man who loves the soil

Finds happiness in rich supply;

Though toil he must to earn his bread

He reaps much more than wheat and rye,

For with each little grain or pod

He cultivates a faith in God.

ELEANOR LYONS CULVER

” A farmer spends a lot of his life outdoors

and watches the seasons come and go. He

experiences bringing forth life by planting a

seed in the ground and nurturing it.

He watches it grow, and harvests it.

He watches it die, plows it under, and

waits until it is time to plant seed again.

Nature brings him closer to God because

of what he does.”        YU/STAN/KEMA

PEACE

” Every one of us yearns for peace in living, in some form or another. A baby finds it in the arms of his caring mother as she rocks him to sleep. A child finds it playing outside in the dappled sunlight as he watches the insects, smells the fresh clean air, and hears the sounds of birds singing and chirping in a quiet meadow or forest.

A mother finds peace as she watches her child fall asleep in a house filled with kindness and love. A man finds peace in fishing as he watches the water and the sky while casting for trout. And an old woman finds peace in knowing she has loved well the people she has cared for and has raised children who do acts of kindness for those who are most vulnerable.

Peace is something we all need, to balance out the times we encounter stress, and the times we carry losses that overwhelm us. Some people find peace in their relationship with God, their loved ones, the things they create, or in nature. This is expressed so eloquently in the following poem by Edgar Daniel Kramer.”     Yu/stan/kema.

I HAVE FOUND PEACE

I have found peace where the rippling waters

Ever whisper the willow boughs;

There I have knelt to an unseen altar.

An unseen temple has heard my vows.

I have lifted my heart to the heart of beauty

And I have given my soul to her,

As I have hearkened the rippling waters,

Where the willow leaves and the grasses stir.

Though I was blind, now my eyes are seeing…

The mystic wonders that never cease;

The dawn in the trees, the dusk on the flowers,

The dust of the stars, and I have found peace.

To The Congress Of The United States Of America: “The Merits Of Beauty.”

Article by Yu/stan/kema, Have courage to protect these sacred places., Letter to Congress, Nature is a gateway to God., Need for men and women of honor in Congress., Pass laws to protect our national parks and wilderness areas from private industry., Poem stanza from America The Beautiful, The merits of beauty., written by Katherine Lee Bates.

Beauty surrounds us daily in all kinds of forms. Most of it, we take for granted or we are so engrossed in technology, we have no time or energy left for anything else. But when the weight of responsibilities, the hard disappointments of life, and our souls become overwhelmed by all the evil deeds we are forced to witness, we are drawn back to beauty that always reminds us that no matter how bad it gets, there is something we can grab on to that creates hope inside us when nothing else can.

The mountains, the canyons, the forests, the rivers, and valleys remind us that something bigger than us exists. Beauty leads us to the Almighty God. It connects us to Him for the rest of our lives. Beauty has the ability to challenge us, develop our character, and teach us lessons in life. Children instinctively know this and are drawn to the outdoors which has the ability to heal us and comfort us.

Over the years, wise men of honor and character have recognized this and have protected these sacred places. Let us hope we still have men and women of honor in high places of power that have the courage to protect and care for that which God entrusted to all of us and not be blinded by status, power, or greed. Our very souls are at risk if they do otherwise.

Yu/stan/kema,

Pat Eagleman.

“Katherine Lee Bates wrote, America The Beautiful. The first stanza of her poem, song says it all:

O beautiful for spacious skies,

For amber waves of grain,

For purple mountains majesties

Above the fruited plain!

America! America!

God shed His grace on thee

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea! “

KATHERINE LEE BATES
