God Washed The World Last Night
I know God washed the world last night,
At least my piece of ground.
He did it while I was asleep.
He did not make a sound.
I know God nurtured my trees,
For the Redbud’s purple haze,
Greeted me with the morning light.
God blessed me with His grace.
God cleaned the tiny quivering leaves
That hung from my Crab Apple tree.
Nourishment caused fragile twigs
To stretch their leaves toward me.
God kissed each plant in the dark of night
And awakened each bud to grow.
Daffodils waved in the daylight hours.
I knew God loved me so.
The smell of the earth is rich and moist.
Blossoms grow big as my hand.
The scent of Magnolia petals, God,
Is more than I can withstand.
The Redbuds are magenta in color.
The trees reach toward the sky.
The Pear trees have white blossoms.
I know that God is nigh,
For He washed my soul last night,
After I fell asleep.
God cleaned my heart of sin,
While I slumbered deep.
