Favorite poems I like;, kindness, Loving one's neighbor., Poem by Mary Carolyn Davies- If I Had Known., Quote by Yu/stan/kema., Understanding others., We are more alike than different.

” I love this special poem for many reasons. It reminds me, we are all more alike than different. It also reminds me that we have the same needs, dreams, challenges, hopes, fears, and that we all have had losses, experienced pain and sorrow, have tasted joy, love, and we fear the uncertainty of life.

I realize, deep in my heart, that fate has a lot to do with what happens to us, as well as resources, inborn traits, and environment. I want for others what I want for myself, my children, my friends.  I don’t do good to be rewarded by God. I do good because my childhood opened me up to what could happen to anyone.

Evil exists in life, but so does love, goodness, and human kindness. The kindness of others makes a difference in so many lives. Without kindness, the end results would have been different for those with few resources.

I know, without a doubt, I would not be who I am today without the kindness of others. Some people changed my life in a minute, others in a day, or longer, but they all enabled me to become a teacher, a counselor, an advocate for others, a good mother, wife, sister, friend, and neighbor.

We need kindness now as we struggle with morality, religion, politics, discrimination, lack of civility in society. Jesus knew this long ago when He summed up the whole purpose of life with the words, ‘love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ Kindness does matter.”         Yu/stan/kema

  IF I HAD KNOWN

If I had known what trouble you were bearing;

What griefs were in the silence of your face;

I would have been more gentle, and more caring,

And tried to give you gladness for a space.

I would have brought more warmth into the place,

   If I had known.

If I had known what thoughts despairing drew you;

(Why do we never try to understand?)

I would have lent a little friendship to you,

And slipped my hand within your hand,

And made your stay more pleasant in the land,

   If I had known.

Life’s Lessons Can Be Harsh.

Facebook timeline photo, Harsh lessons in life., Love is never guaranteed., Poetry by Yu/stan/kema., Safety is often an illusion.

He came down from the mountain,

with power and strength in his stride.

His face was tired but joyful,

as he released  the tears inside.

Found on Facebook Timeline on 8-1-16.

His Spirit had been walking

with the wind that swirled around him.

The smell of Mother Earth clung

from his skin as the daylight dimmed.

He had walked to the summit

to see the River below.

God said, “Your life is not over,”

“There is still time to grow.”

He buried his past behind him,

and followed the trail down.

He moved with the grace of a leopard,

his feet not making a sound.

He built his home by the River.

He gave God’s love from his heart.

He wanted to share his values

with others from the start.

He believed others would see

his internal wealth.

All he really wanted was

acceptance for himself.

He trusted the goodness of others

He let his guard slip away.

He was shot in the back with an arrow.

He died later that day.

They buried him near the summit,

where he longed to roam again.

They said he died friendless,

but he loved until the end.

“I sing, I will sing,

Alleluia to my King.”

Found on Pinterest on 11-13-17. ecogentleman.com

I sing so that others know,

Even when the strong winds blow,

My Faith rests in Him secure,

And I am able to endure,

The darkest night of the soul,

For He alone can make me whole.

“I sing, I will sing,

Alleluia to my King.”

Even when my body breaks,

Or my mind makes a mistake;

Or my soul gives up on love;

Or I’m no longer sure of,

Which way I want to go,

I still know He loves me so.

“I sing, I will sing,

Alleluia to my King.”

I may die alone in life,

Have days full of bitter strife,

Be forgotten by a friend,

And lose my heart in the end.

Still I’ll know despite it all,

God will know I stood tall:

That I tried my very best,

To pass each and every  test.

I tried to love my neighbor well.

I sought to rise each time I fell.

I gave to those who were in need.

God will see I lived my creed.

“I sing, I will sing,

Alleluia to my King.”

accountability, Focus on the future, Learn from our mistakes, Pinterest photo- Loring Scarrow., Poetry by Yu/stan/kema., We are responsible for others., We are responsible for the message we send., What we do or say, what we don't do or say

The threads of life are woven

Through the corridors of time

And often bring changes

Without reason or rhyme.

Found on Pinterest on 2-9-16..Loring Scarrow. Kindness in the Workplace.

Past mistakes are useful

In learning right from wrong.

We can use such weaknesses

To make our souls strong.

The days we are given

Remain a mystery to us.

We decide how we live.

We pray for righteousness.

Our past can be a prison

If we focus on what’s gone.

We need to move forward,

And find things to build upon.

For God holds us accountable

For the hours we spend

On earth loving others,

And the message we send.

Learning A Lesson About Pain.

Denying emotions, Learning Life's lessons., Letting go piece by piece of pain., Locking up tears, pain, Pinterest photo- Zara, poetry by Yu/stan/kema, sorrow

In my early childhood,

I learned to swallow

the terrible sounds

of my own sorrow.

Found on Pinterest on 2-10-16. Zara.

I thought If I denied

these painful feelings,

I could prevent the

brunt of Life’s stings.

But all I did was build

a pile of my emotions,

and believe the lies

of past distortions.

I could not bear to touch

my tears that fell like rain,

so I locked them up and

refused to feel the pain.

If only I had learned

to let go peace by piece,

I know that over time,

this pain would cease.

Choosing Good Over Evil.

Choices, Discrimination, Good over evil., Justifying our actions, manipulation, Poetry by Yu/stan/kema., We can choose to reflect Christ.

The reasons we give ourselves,

for doing the things we do,

no longer amazes me.

People find incredible ways

to justify abuse and neglect

they take part in rendering.

Manipulation becomes a tool

we use to obtain a pre-set goal.

The goal becomes the focus and

we lose sight of how it might

impact the lives of others.

Desire over-rides our shame.

Over time, we blind ourselves

to the hurt and pain in others

when we choose to discriminate,

rather than accept differences.

We seek hatred and war,

not compassion and peace.

We avoid the essence of

other human beings and

we forget they have a soul.

They bleed from wounds

we cannot see and cry tears

 that stay within the heart.

Yet we can choose to become

that which God  made us to be:

Made in His own image,

a force for good,

full of love and acceptance,

and reflecting God’s peace.

Favorite Poems I Like #5: “She Walks In Beauty,” by Lord Byron.

"She Walks In Beauty.", Pinterest photo-Lorilynn15.tumblr.com, Poem about a woman., positive qualities of a woman., Quote by Yu/stan/kema., Written by Lord Byron

” When I was young, I never appreciated being a woman, and I suppose that was because I never had a good role model. Back when I was growing up, men were seen as intelligent and were idolized more by society in general.

I was fortunate to have lived through the Women’s Movement, the Women’s March in D.C., and the “I Too” Movement. I worked with two good women who were wonderful role models. As a result, I am proud I am a woman. Lord Byron wrote a poem about a woman. It describes many good qualities that women possess: Beauty, grace, tenderness, sweet expression of thoughts, purity, calmness, peaceful mind, and love that is innocent. The following poem is now one of my favorite.”    -Yu/stan/kema-

SHE WALKS IN BEAUTY

She walks in Beauty, like the night

Of cloudless climes and starry skies;

And all that’s best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eyes:

Thus mellowed to that tender light

Which Heaven to gaudy day denies.

Found on Pinterest on 3-9-16. Lorilynn 15.tumblr.com

One shade the more, one ray the less,

Had half impaired the nameless grace

Which waves in every raven tress,

Or softly lightens o’er her face;

Where thoughts serenely sweet express,

How pure, how dear their dwelling place.

And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,

So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,

The smiles that win, the tints that glow,

But tell of days in goodness spent,

A mind at peace with all below,

A heart whose love is innocent!

so I can experience bliss.

Exchange with me some honesty,

for its truth that I miss.

Just take me by the hand

when I’m too tired to try,

and help me not give up

when all I do is cry.

Just have a little faith

in my ability to be,

all the wondrous things

that you see in me.

Take time  to be alone

and say a little prayer,

that God will protect me

and keep me in His care.

Please, come along with me

and walk right by my side,

until I enter heaven where

the gates are opened wide.

Psychological Triggers And How They Can Affect Our Lives.

” July 4th will be coming up soon. For all those who love to shoot fireworks, and don’t understand those who don’t, this post may give you some of the reasons why some people don’t like them, and how lives can be disrupted by fireworks.”

REFLECTIONS OF A MINDFUL HEART AND SOUL

Trauma can happen to anyone. When it does, it sometimes leaves a wound that stays with us for a long time.  If we are able to talk it through with someone, process it, make the needed connections, we can go on and live our lives more effectively. We will never be who we use to be, because trauma changes us at all levels: physical, emotional, social, and spiritual. Our brains are changed by trauma and our body is more reactive when triggered by things that can remind us of a traumatic event. A trigger is something in the environment that initiates or activates us to react to something that reminds us of past trauma. It can be a smell, a sound, a word, something we see, something we feel or touch, even an emotion.

Favorite Poems I Like #4: “School.”

Mankind is often cruel and heartless., Peace is found in nature., Photo found on Country and Farm Photography., Photo taken by John Mc Quiston., Quote by Yu/stan/kema., School- poem by Henry Van Dyke., the kindness of mankind., The kindness of nature

I put my heart to school

In the world where men grow wise:

“Go out,” I said, “and learn the rule;”

“Come back when you win a prize.”

Found on Country and Farm Photography on 5-7-18. Taken by John McQuiston, 2017.

My heart came back again:

“Now where is the prize?” I cried…..

“The rule was false and the prize was pain,”

“And the teacher’s name was Pride.”

I put my heart to school

In the woods where the veeries sing

And brooks run clear and cool,

In the fields where wild flowers spring.

“And why do you stay so long”

“My heart, and where do you roam?”

The answer came with a laugh and a song,

“I find this school is home.”
