Little girl, hiding
Out of His sight,
Trying to stay small

With all of her might.
She crams her toes in
The cracks in the closet,
Holds herself tight when
Someone has “lost it.”
Her fear makes her hide,
And keeps her quiet.
Scared out of her wits,
She doesn’t deny it.
She stifles her breathing,
And slows her heart-beat.
She covers her ears,
And hopes not to meet
The monster pacing
Outside the door.
Waiting to hurt her,
He can’t be ignored.
She asks herself,
“Where can I hide.
How can I save

“There’s no place left,
