And some with great joy.

Some give with expectation

Of sharing a toy.

 

Some give without thinking—

For love lies within.

Some give with hesitation

For “what might have been.”

 

Some give not at all,

And they haven’t a clue,

What thinking of others

Could possibly do.

 

When giving with pleasure

And giving with joy,

It enriches the lives

Of each girl and boy.

 

It gives hope to the weary,

And light when it’s dark.

It gives others great courage

When making their mark

 

In a world full of hatred,

Sadness, and pain.

It makes enough love

To wipe out the gain

 

Of greed and cruel laughter,

And all kinds of sin,

To find true redemption
