The Old Woman

She was going to take a journey

In the waning years of her life.

Her strength was slowly fading

And she had no patience for strife.

Her life would be filled with uncertainty,

Pain, sadness, and tears.

Would she have the strength to conquer

And face all of her fears?

Life could be gone in a minute.

Her body experience more pain.

She could lose her sense of security

And all of the progress she’d gained.

She was determined to not be a burden,

Or trouble for those she knew.

Should she let go of life,

And live her life anew?
