A  little child goes forth in to the world,

Seeing all things unseen by men.

With laughing heart and carefree eyes,

She climbs the hills to see where she has been.

A little child goes forth to conquer fear,

Knowing life to be a fearsome thing.

With quivering lips and frightened eyes

She stands to take the barbs which surely sting.

A little child goes forth to find love,

Unaware that love can turn to hate.

With doubtful heart and lonely eyes,

She learns to quaff the bitter cup of fate.

A little child goes forth to fight the world.

Seeing all things perceived by men,

With stinging heart and twitching eyes

She falls from heaven’s gate and sinks in sin.

A little child goes forth as one alone,

Feeling the great storms within her soul,

With aching eyes and heavy heart she feels

Our dear Father touch and make her whole.
