Hello, old friend, I thought of you just the other day.

I thought about the walks we took. How we loved to play.

We had  much respect and love for values we both shared.

A hug or pat upon the back, showed me that you cared.

You’d laugh with me and weep with me, accept every feeling

That my body would express and I would feel the healing

Of your love and gentleness when living hurt so bad.

When you had to leave one day, I Never felt so sad.

How  can I show gratitude for all the time you took.

You made me want to reach the stars with just one look.

Save a place for me,old friend, when you get to heaven.

We’ll run through green fields again like we did age seven.

I’ll lay a flower on your grave and say a little prayer

That you’ll reserve a hug for me when I get up there.
