Jesus
Dear baby Jesus
Was born in a stable.
He laid in the sweet-smelling
Hay of a manger.
He could have been born
To wealth and high places,
Worn clothing befitting
A king with great graces.
Instead, from the time
Of His humble birth,
He walked the back roads,
Had a common man’s hearth.
He healed the hurt leper,
Gave food to the poor,
Sat down with the Sinners,
And opened the door
Of His heart to the lonely,
The outcast, the ill.
He was focused on
Doing His Father’s will.
Today I am thankful
For His gift to mankind:
To be in God’s presence,
And not left behind.
